บท 89: Chapter 89
Walking around downtown Arklight, a gunmetal grey-haired girl could be seen with one arm wrapped around a similar grey-haired boy with an ice cream cone in her other hand. To anyone who did not know the context, the boy and girl looked like two children out on a date when in fact, the girl was just dragging the boy around to buy her any more food that caught her interest!
"Slow down, Metsys! You have not even finished your ice cream yet and you already want to eat something else?"
"There are so many yummy smelling food! I'm tired of eating grilled pokemon on an open campfire! I want something sweet and soft and melts in my mouth!"
"Fine, fine. Finish what you have in your hands and we can go get some cake. Guys, you want anything? Since I am already spoiling Metsys, if you guys see anything you want, just tell me and I will buy it."
Now that Jax had leveled up quite a bit as well, he could communicate with his pokemons in his sub-space without taking them out. From his pokemons' perspective, it was kind of like an overhead intercom. The first time Jax talked to them in this way, they all thought it was a ghost! Heatran on the other hand, had the biggest reaction! Not recognizing Jax's voice, the giant four-legged pokemon thought it was Arceus and coward in fear!
"Get me some more Poison-type or Ground-type pokemon corpses, Brother."
"Ouuu! JJ! I am happy with anything you buy me!"
"U-ummm. I could use some more D-Dragon Lotion…"
"…"
"Anything for you Lance?"
"My liege, I am satisfied with what I have."
Even though Vioarr could no longer raise his grade potential, he still enjoyed eating high quality Poison and Ground-type pokemons. Something about how the remaining energy satisfied his palate or something.
Terry, just like its nature, was always jolly and just happy with anything Jax bought it. The two have been with each other for so long that they did not find anything wrong with Terry's attitude but trust me, a smiling tank is a scary sight. One time, Jax was napping out on the training ground. Seeing his student slacking off, Leon was about to play a prank of him when he felt a presence behind him. Turning around, Leon came face to face with a giant fortress just floating in the air above his head smiling down on him! Yeah, scary.
Before getting Nemmy (Nemsus), Jax had no idea there were so many cosmetics for Dragon-type pokemons! While watching TV one day, an ad came on featuring a lotion that could help Dragons have healthier and shinier scales. When it came on, Nemmy's eyes were practically glued to the TV but being too shy, she never said anything out loud. On a date with Ally, Jax coincidentally came across the lotion on the ad on TV at a stall and bought it. When Jax gave it to Nemmy, the shy girl immediately tackled him into a big hug. If it was any other trainer, they would have been flattened.
Lance (Lancelot) was a quiet fellow. Always punctual and to the point, he never really talked about himself. It was always his liege, Jax, first and then his siblings second before himself. Even as the youngest, Lance was the most considerate. Jax, noticing how his Paldean pokemon behaved, always set aside extra time for a 1-on-1 with him to get to know his pokemon better.
As Jax and Metsys went from one café to the next, at the same time, on the other side of downtown Arklight, two pretty girls, one pink and one platinum could be seen going out of one café and into the next.
"Ally! Hurry! I hear this café has a new item menu and the cake is to die for!"
"Haha! Slow down, Evie. The café is not going anywhere. I did not get to celebrate both of Jax's birthday since he has been away from the academy on both years so I want to buy a late, late birthday present for him."
"Hmph! Who cares about him? He spends more time out in the wild than with you. Who knows if he is even actually training or if he is just meeting that strange girl!"
"Jax told me a little bit about her before. He said she was just a strange girl he happened to meet in the mountains. Since she has nowhere to go, Jax-"
"Let me guess, Jax, being the oh so kind boy he is, just what? Decided that she could stay with them until she, oh, let me guess, gets her memory back? Ally! Wake up! That's the oldest trick in the book!"
"Ugh. Well, I know him a whole lot better than you do. I know you are only looking out for me and I thank you but I do not think Jax would betray my trust like that. Anyways, let us not let him ruin our day. I think I see the café coming up, Gâteau du ciel!"
While the two girls were busy trying to get that certain grey-eyed, gold trim boy out of their minds, that exact boy was still getting dragged around.
"JAX! Look! Look! That famous café on TV is having a promotion! A new, limited time only cake!"
Scarfing down the last of the ice cream cone, Metsys dragged Jax away. Although she looked like any pretty 8 years old girl, only Jax knew that she was actually an AI gifted to him by this world's god. No matter how hard Jax trained, a normal human could never beat an android in terms of physical might.
With no other choice, Jax just let himself get carried away, taking one last look at the bulletin board, he could only shake his head. 'Well, it does look heavenly. Guess that's why the shop is called Gâteau du ciel.'
