บท 3: Chapter 3

Jax spent the next week going to class and testing out the limits of his new system. A couple things he found out:

One, Jax did not need to come into contact with the pokemons to view their stats. If he concentrated hard enough, he could view their stats from up to 5 feet away. Now, this might not seem like a long distance but wait! There's more! Did you notice how Jax had to concentrate? That's right, Jax was beginning to awake his psychic powers! It was not so much as concentrating on looking at the pokemon but more like concentrating on wrapping his psychic powers around the pokemon to feel their stats.

With this new discovery, Jax went through all the information he new about on how to train his psychic powers. Along with his daily physical training, Jax also started to try and telekinetically move a small ball.

At first, the most he could do was push it one centimeter. The more he practiced, the further this distance became. And now, he can slightly move the ball up and down and not just roll it around!

This was a huge accomplishment since most psychics don't develop their powers until after they graduate at the age of 10 years old. This put Jax at a 5 years head start compared to all of his psychic peers.

Two, Jax can not only look up pokemon stats, he can look up his own? One day, Jax was practicing his psychic powers in the shower. When he stepped out of the bathtub and looked at himself in the mirrors, lo and behold, he could see his stats! The weird thing was that this was how his stats came up:

Jax

HP: ???

ATK: ???

DEF: ???

SP ATK: ???

SP DEF: ???

SPD: ???

Powers: Psychic (LVL 1) Aura (???)

Sub-space: ???

Pokemon: ???

Incubator: ???

Items: ???

Looking at his own stats and the system's functions, Jax immediately tried to test out his sub-space. Unfortunately, nothing came up. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Jax figured that he either had not met the requirements to unlock those functions or special events had to occur before he had access to them.

Another thing that caught his eye was Aura. He fell in love with the whole concept of aura after watching that Lucario movie and seeing Sir Aaron use his aura to save the whole kingdom! But alas, nothing came up as well. Jax figured that he was incredibly lucky to even unlock his psychic abilities this early. Only time can tell if he will ever unlock the rest of his abilities.

"Okay, class! I know that everyone has been super excited to talk about pokemon and learning more about them. Even I, as a professor, still have many more things to learn about the profoundness and mysteries of pokemon. That being said, I doubt all of you want to spend the rest of your life only talking~ about pokemon. For this week's assignment, I want each one of you to bring in your very own pokemon!"

When Professor Uriel let the news out of the bag, the whole class went wild! Finally! Spending all day sitting and listening to lectures was fun and all but nothing can beat the joy of having your very own pokemon! Pokemon Academy is a prestigious school for the privilege young students; therefore, they obtained their pokemon before the age of 10.

"Quiet down, class! I know you're all excited but I have a couple more announcements! The school will provide everyone with five Pokeballs. Should you lose or break any of them, you will be out of luck and will have to compensate the school back for them. Also, should any of you be unable to find a partner that satisfy you, the school will provide a starter of our choosing. The royal pokemons are in high demand and short supply so don't expect any of the conventional starters. Okay?"

"Professor Uriel~ what if we don't know how to catch pokemons?" said one of the girl in the class.

Her name was Olivia McBeth with short auburn hair up to her shoulders, freckles across her nose and cheeks and green squared glasses. Although she attended this prestigious academy like all the other students, she was an honor student who got in through a letter of recommendation so her knowledge of the basics was slightly lacking compared to her peers.

"Ah! Wonder question Ms. McBeth. Should you have any questions on how to catch pokemon, you can ask any of the staff here in this academy or even ask me for advice. This goes for all of you, got that students?"

"Yesss~" the class answered in unison.

While the class was dismissed, all the students were busy chatting about which pokemon they wanted for their first starter.

"My dad said he'll give me one of the newborn Growlithes!"

"Well, my dad has been raising a Machop just for me from the day I was born!"

"Psh. That's nothing. My dad said he will go out with me to catch a rare Nidoran this weekend at Thora Forest! Watch me find a shiny one!"

"What about you, Jax? Which pokemon do you want for your starter?"

Already lost in his own head, Jax didn't hear his classmate call out to him.

"Hey, ignore him. Don't you know he doesn't have a dad? I bet he'll just show up next week and get a freebie from the professor."

At the mention of him being fatherless, Jax finally perked up his ears and glared at the boy who just commented. It's not like Jax only had one parent. We all know how babies are made. A stork drops them from the sky when parents pray hard enough. Right? Jokes aside, Jax wondered the same thing. 'Where is my dad? It can't be that my parents are divorced. Even then, I think my dad would have still came and see me. I mean, I am his flesh and blood.'

He brought up his curiosity to his mother one time but she just and said it wasn't time for him to hear the details yet. Her stance was pretty firm so Jax let the matter drop but that didn't mean he wasn't bothered by it.

So, doing what any kid would do when they're too overwhelmed with emotions and had no idea how to positively let it out, Jax charged at the boy, got on top of him, and beat him to a pulp!
