Betrayal

/"You both know each other?/" I cried out incredulously. I turned to Jacob, /"Please don't tell me you're related to Dominic Black too somehow./"

Jacob gave me a puzzled look /"No, of course not. Why would you even ask such an absurd question?/"

I shrugged my shoulders /"It’s just that everyone seems to be related to him one way or another./" I answered offhandedly /"So, care to explain? How are you guys acquainted?/"

Jacob ran a hand through his hair still looking distressed /"Look, it’s a long story. I'll tell you some other time. But yes, I do know your friend Tobias here. I suppose you've made the right decision to trust him./"

Before I could not ask him to elaborate more I heard Rachel's breathless voice as she burst in through the door.

/"Marriah! You're here! I'm so-/" she broke off in mid-sentence and I saw her eyes widen as they focused on something, or should I say someone behind me, Jacob.
