Tony stark pov
'I have been trying to upgrade my suit in preparation for what the alien told me, it doesn't harm me to prepare for something that might not happen but my iron legion is slowly being rebuilt and under the advice of the alien I am making a space suit for myself now.' tony thought thinking back to the talk he had with James, the deal James proposed to him.

"Tony now that we have some privacy, I want you to make me a spaceship and one of your suits fit for being in space for me to leave Earth again once this is over I don't feel like I belong here anymore and in exchange before I leave ill give you my blastor for you to study, deal?"
"I don't need a blastor I have my repulsors which can do just as good as any blaster that's out there in space, but ill build you a ship for a bit of that metal your armour is made out of, and if you give me the whole set ill think of giving you a suit to replace it." tony replied with a smirk on his face
James knew all too well of Tony's arrogance 'he always believed himself to be smarter than everyone in the room and he always was, there was no one there to challenge him, He has never failed at anything he has ever tried. Never. With that kind of track record, you would be inhuman not to have an ego of any kind. But this was his downfall in many situations
During Iron Man 3, Tony Stark challenges the Mandarin to come and find him. With his location being public knowledge, that's exactly what happens. Mandarin sends several helicopters to attack Tony's home, obliterating it while Tony has to escape in a brand-new armour he's not even sure works yet.
Stark tells the Mandarin to come after him, but seemingly had no protection other than his Iron Man armour to keep him and Pepper safe. his arrogance got the better of him thinking that no one would dare to go against iron man, the smartest man on the planet
"Tony now is no time to be arrogant, this blastor is decades maybe even centuries ahead of what's currently available even in space it'll hold up and you won't be able to find many like this even in space this is a once in lifetime opportunity," James said with his voice not altering in the slightest.
Tony thought for a moment about having a chance to study new technology and help someone in the process "I can't give you a suit, ill build you a spaceship suitable for space that should hold up compared to any other space vessel but I also want to study the metal of that armour." tony said with the confidence that he could build anything other planets could achieve.
"Ok deal, thank you, Tony," James said trying to show his gratefulness.
Present
'So far I've built the repulsion technology into the ship that has enough power to navigate in space though it won't have as much precision in its steering but it'll do and fit it with an arc reactor to power it, I have struggled somewhat in preparing a defensive shield as its unable to withstand more than a few shots from my repulsors but I gave him a repulsor canon so it has enough offence to defend itself.'
I'll just add the autopilot mode for now and return to it after the invasion since it is better to be more prepared for an alien invasion.

James thought how cool it would have been if he combined his armour with Tony's technology and he might have been able to achieve that in the future if he gets Tony's trust but he thought it would be better to leave Earth as soon as possible
Getting more freedom in his actions allows him to complete more of his characters and because of how much trouble Earth encounters like Thanos so he wants to try to find a weapon capable of stopping Thanos in space or get a character powerful enough to stop Thanos. Before he returns to earth for good only power in the marvel universe allows for a fulling and safe life.
That's why he's going to leave to explore the galaxy and doesn't want to be stopped by Shield in leaving and decided to ask Tony privately for a spaceship.
Natasha then walks in on James
"We've got another mission."
Natasha then led James to a quinjet and sat down in the pilot seat
"buckle up," Natasha said as she started the engines and did the required safety checks before departing
"We are picking someone up before we go on this one," Natasha said with a rare smile as James began to wonder who's got her smiling like this.
After flying in stealth mode over a city and parking on a roof, Natasha let down the hanger door to be met by a familiar face. one that James is also happy to see.
"Captain America good to see you back in action," Natasha said as Cap walked onto the quinjet and looked at James before introducing himself
"Steve Rogers nice to meet you."
James looks cap up and down seeing him in a new uniform with his shield on his back, James is impressed by seeing the star-spangled man in the flesh just radiating confidence and James can't help but respect the war hero.
"James nice to meet you cap." James said while taking his helmet off and standing up to shake his hand, "I've heard of many of your adventures as a child, I thank you for your service."
Many people in this era don't show him respect for all the effort he and his comrades put in for the freedom of the world, Captain America saw it as a thankless job that he should do and strive for because he believed that he had no right to stay behind when men were risking their lives fighting in the war but to be respected by someone who hasn't even lived most of their life on Earth getting to enjoy the freedom and peaceful times Captain America couldn't help but admire the man for the respect he has been shown and took a firm grasp of James' hand and shook it.
"I've heard that you have had many adventures yourself, I'm glad you made it home, I can't help but admire your bravery to survive in space and return to warn us about this invasion, I hope we can be prepared for what's to come and make sure there are as few casualties as possible, we fight wars not to win but to protect."
"Thank you, Captain, it means a lot coming from you, although there might be casualties I know you'll be there to help which means a lot to the people you can save, now let's get this bird back into the air and complete our assignment."
James sat back down in his seat and thought to himself 'I don't enjoy being shields lap dog but being able to go on these combat missions helps to further my progress with the characters while getting experience in killing and fighting, it is a lot harder than imagined, but once the invasion is over I will be free of shield and return to earth later to protect it, although I am in a different universe I still cherish the earth and don't wish for it to be decimated.'
James then thought about Captain America and the role he plays in the marvel universe 'He was a born leader, and it showed in every battle the Avengers fought with him at the helm. Sam Wilson followed in Steve's footsteps, leading several teams of Avengers during his time wielding the shield. Captain America is all about being a leader, fighting from the front as a shining example of heroism. It will be tough to be the group leader when he has started to take command using his prior experience in war and leading his troupes to take down Hydra but if I make my play early and get Captain America of trust and follow my word then it is sure to be a lot easier, I don't take pleasure in taking caps spot as the leader but I need to do this for my survival and to make faster progress so I will survive in space when I leave and don't meet my unfortunate end at the hands of some Kree or in one of the multiple worst cases I meet a Flerken.'
Natasha fired up the engines of the quinjet that rushed through the air to their destination.
"Our goal this time is to destroy a drug operation in Nicaragua, although the cartel is large there we are to simply disrupt its operations, well be going in stealth and burning the drugs and leave without anyone knowing we were there as it would cause a national incident if we were to be caught, but do be careful the cartel is known to have hired some super-powered enforcers so be prepared. And cap welcome back it's good to have you on our backs now suit up"
"I hope I can live up to that trust," Cap said while putting on a black leather outfit.
Natasha then threw a canister to James "A present for you since we know you love your armour more than anything and don't worry it'll come off easy"
James then looked at what was thrown at him and it seemed like a canister of spray paint but had no labels on 'I guess shield scientists had an easy time with this one, or it might just be ordinary spray paint.'
