Emily’s perspective:
Standing on the bank of the pool at the base of the waterfall, Grant hollers, “It’s time to go,” and signals for Gabby and Austin to come to shore. Like children on a play date, they grumble but obey. Naked, they rise from the cold water, shivering at the open air. I hold out Gabby’s clothes to her, while Grant tosses Austin’s at him. As they get dressed, Grant divulges what the rest of the day holds.
“Nobody knows but us that’ll you’ll be leaving. To run cover, Austin will go back to The Den and tell everyone that I’m flying you guys into town where we are going to pick up some of Inuk’s famous frozen pizzas.” Grant holds a hand to the side of his mouth. “A rare delicacy in these parts, I might add. I only wish that’s what we were actually doing.”
“Where are we really going?” Gabby asks.
“I’m not going to say in the open. Even Austin doesn’t know. I think it best to keep it that way.”
