"You did good, kid," Superman said as he watched Atlas been handcuffed and tossed into a Black Gate van.
"What happened at the League meeting? I have never seen you so glad to be back," Sentry questioned her mentor. He sighed slowly as he made up his mind.
"It appears that Cadmus was still making clones of me," Superman started. "I met one, calling himself Superboy. Apparently he is weeks old or something, hasn't displayed all Kryptonian powers yet."
"Wait, wait, you are telling me there's a chibi Superman out there and I haven't got to meet him!" Sentry excitedly said, making her mentor sigh tiredly.
"He looks like a teenager, has the moody swings of one, talks like one..."
"Where's he? I wanna see how you looked when you were a teenager!" Sentry continued, making Superman glare he. She shut up and let him continue.
"Apparently him and the other sidekicks want to form a group together. Batman asked if I want you to join and I wanted you to make the choice,"
"A group of side kicks who, I assume, will be under Batman's watchful eyes? I might take sometime to think about it. It's one thing to work with you, I trust you to watch my back; it's another to build trust with strangers. So, give me sometime, I'll think it over," Sentry explained before sitting on a parked vehicle.
"There's something I wanna talk about, though. I might be off for a day or two." Superman looked at her with a raised brow waiting for an explanation. "I'm going on a trip with my family. My dad's a klutz so we might get lost on the way thus the need for two days."
"I don't see why not," Superman answered with a small smile. She nodded before smiling mischievously.
"So tell me more about mini Superman!" she shouted, making him groan and fly off, with her after him. "C'mon, I wanna know how he looks like, don't skip any detail!"
.....
Sophie had accepted her fate as the family's carrier for a long time due to them knowing she had super strength. So, she was quite shocked when Fred had decided to help her carry some of the luggages, even if they were the light ones. Well, if one could carry weight worth of the planet Jupiter with one hand and still not break a sweat then everything mundane is just worth a feather in weight.
"You do know I can carry that just fine, right?" she asked her brother who was struggling carrying their parents' suitcase which was as big as him. They had a habit of carrying both their clothes in one suit case and Abby is a heavy packer. Well, if you had a super strong child then I guess you could do the same.
"I'm doing fine!" Fred growled at her before continuing trying to lift the suitcase. Sophie just shrugged and went on with her tasks. With every bag but Fred's packed, they had to wait for the sweaty boy to finally pull the suitcase to the driveway and give her a pleading look. She just sighed and put the suitcase into the back.
"Alright, family trip, woohoo!" Abby screamt in joy as she went shotgun.
"Daddy, can I drive?" Stacy asked, making everyone break out in cold sweat.
"Maybe later, honey," Bobby said as he quickly got in and strapped himself. Stacy pouted and took out her phone, ready to ignore us all. Sophie was at the back all alone, just how she liked.
"We are off," Bobby announced and the car started moving.
"Dad, can we stay at a five star motel?" Fred asked, hopefully.
"We can if you'll pay the bill," Bobby playfully answered.
"We're staying at a motel with a swimming pool, sweety," Abby, ever in mom mode, assured they boy.
The conversation continued while Sophie was thinking back to the fight with Atlas and La Encantadora. The woman's illusions were strong enough to actually trick her which made her think of her power, Light manipulation. She had thought long and hard about it's application and remembered the Lantern rings. Superman had once told her that the rings produced hard light constructs which made her mind blow at the time. Now that she had seen first hand how one can use illusion to trick the mind, she knew she just had to.
Light was present if one could see an object and while others would need already existing light in order to control it, she could produce her own. That's how she could send a booster shot of yellow UV rays right to Superman in order to top him off during long ardous battles. But now, she would be shaping light to form constructs.
So, the previous night she had practiced long and hard, entering her super focused mode where an attasecond would pass like an hour. She had created a complete hard light construct version of herself, which made her proud. Everything looked real from her innards to the very DNA causing through her but she wasn't sentient and needed her to control.
So, for the entire night, she had practiced and practiced till she was proficient and that was why, inside the car was a hard light construct while she herself was chilling inside a suit case. She had shrunk herself to two inches, thanks to Molecular Manipulation and she was having her own kind of vacation inside a small fish tank. It pays that you can multitask for hours without breaking concentration.
.....
"She is full of surprises, isn't she?" Lex Luther said as he looked at La Encantadora's cells. He was searching for the bacteria that Sentry had used to infect and incapacitate her and probably check if she had a strand of her DNA.
"I'm sorry, I was barely keeping up," La Encantadora apologized to the bald evil genius who shook his head with a small smile.
"You might not have achieved your goal but you definitely brought more about her into the light," Lex assured her.
"True. The power to make bacteria was certainly something none of us could have predicted," Ra's Al Ghul added. "But it shows that she has more powers than the one she shows.
"It was certainly shocking that Kryptonite was not her weakness which means she has been playing with out minds. All those last minute 'bursts of power' might not actually be what they are," Queen Bee said before smiling. "I already like her."
"What is our goal going on? She is a factor we cannot ignore, not after this," Lex seriously said.
"Well, I can head on and capture her. It appears she is sensitive to magic, I tried to bind her when I was transporting those two but she negated it as soon as it tried to catch hold," Klarion, a Lord Of Chaos said, making the others look at him seriously. Klarion was a wild card and no matter how they try to convince themselves that he was one of them and they could control him, it did not change the fact that he had destroyed a universe before coming to theirs. He was dangerous!
"That won't be necessary, my city my rules. I can handle her and probably get an ally of the Light by the time I am done," Lex jumped in. He was attached to Metropolis and would certainly be saddened if it was destroyed in the fight.
"We cannot afford to make any mistakes now that the Justice League has decided to authorize children to their own team. We are fighting war on two fronts, we don't want to add another force to the mix, especially one we know frighteningly so little about," Savage jumped in.
"What exactly should we do?" Ra's Al Ghul asked.
"We must make sure that she does not join the children. So, we must make her as busy as possible in Metropolis to curb her thoughts," Savage answered.
"I might have a solution to that," Lex Luther said while smiling craftily.
"Alright. Now, we must discuss about Santa Prisca. Cobra says he is close to a breakthrough. But, Batman has been sniffing around and it might not be long till he decides he must investigate Bane's silence," Savage brought forth a new motion.
"These heroes, stay quiet for long they investigate. You plot something, they are sniffing at your heels! It is infuriating," Orm, the Ocean Master barked in irritation.
"Do you reckon they might send the children?" Queen Bee asked.
"That is within my calculations. We cannot afford to get anyone interrupting Cobra so close to a breakthrough. I suggest we send Sportsmaster and Deathstroke to make sure everything goes as planned. It also does not help that Bane might attack the facility at any time,"
"Our biggest concern, however, should be the children. We must make sure Sentry does not join them and if she does, make sure she is not in the team sent to Santa Prisca. We haven't hired any Superman level lap dogs yet, their pride is just too much,"
