Chapter Thirty-Four

My pulse quickens as I inhale his intoxicating scent, immediately making my body involuntarily relax. “Why would I scream?” I ask into his hand.

“I thought it’d be sexy to say,” he whispers and pulls me along.

“And we’re going where?” I say into his hand again.

He chuckles, “Away from the party.” Silas pulls me into a dark room that is isolated. It looks like it’s filled with decorations. Considering the number of parties that take place during mating season, there are a lot of boxes.

“How’s your jaw doing?” I ask as I rub mine.

“Not as bad as yours. I’ve been trying to talk to you for three hours now.” He runs his eyes over me. “You do look gorgeous tonight.”

“You’re not bad yourself.” I motion to him. “I like the tails.”

He grimaces, flicking at one of them. “I feel like I’m being punished for something.”

“You’re telling me,” I agree as I sit on a box and kick off my heels.
