Helena said, "Her hat covered her face. I saw her face the moment I looked up, so I went with her." If Amelia hadn't asked, she wouldn't have remembered the scene.

"Why would she do that?" Amelia could not understand no matter how she thought about it. Her second aunt had no grudge against her mother. Why would she harm her mother?
