บท 53: Chapter 53

The first to acknowledge her presence is Howard. The man stands up and offers a handshake while asking about her powers, abilities, and whatnot.

"Let her breathe, Howard," Steve is the first to offer support.

"I can't help being curious about the science behind her powers and abilities," the man explains before Peggy adds in, "He's not without his eccentrics, but his words hold some truth. We need to better understand your powers so we can work with them."

She nods, deciding to focus mainly on her Deoxy's and Raichu's powers. "Well, Deoxys has four forms. The normal one I use whenever I transform into it. It's a generalist, without focusing on anything in particular. Like a jack of all trades but master of none, though it's easier for me to Recover when using it."

Having said that, she transforms into the Raichu form to remove her clothes without tearing them apart. When she's out of her clothes, she takes the standard Deoxys form, resting like that for five seconds before transforming again, but this time in her Attack form. 'Then I have my attack form, which, like the name implies, focuses more on attacking and teleporting.'

Then, transforming once again into her heaviest form, she makes sure to float so as to not put any unnecessary weight on the floor. "The Defense form makes me a tank. Basically, high endurance, but slow. While my Speed Form focuses on quick attacks and guerrilla tactics."

She transforms into Alolan Raichu, not wanting to go out to change her clothes. Floating to the table, she starts eating. 'I've got specific attacks I call 'moves' that do other unrelated things, but, well, that's the gist of it.'

"And about the healing?" Steve asks, looking severe and interested.

'I've got a couple of moves for that, actually,' she starts, eating some steak. 'I've got 'Life Dew' that mostly restores stamina and removes fatigue and pain. Then 'Aromatherapy' heals mostly less benign status conditions, like being poisoned, burned, or electrified. 'Heal pulse' heals all superficial injuries and takes away most internal damage. Lastly, 'Healing Wish' makes me faint, but in return, I can completely heal the person I want.'

Steve's got his game face on as he thinks deeply. She lets him be for a while, eating some mashed potatoes.

"You will still need to learn first aid and follow some of the doctors and nurses here. Are you okay with that?"

She nods. 'I like to learn new things.'

Howard looks between them before leaning forward. "Now that we are done with that... What are your other moves? Or at least, the ones you can use in your forms? Also, how many do you have? Do they have a type, like elemental or reinforcement? Do you know the science behind it? How did you learn—"

"Howard," Peggy says sharply. "Again. Let her breathe. You can ask her later when we're not in the middle of a debriefing. So, for now, nothing unrelated to work or the mission they will lead next month."

Howard rolls his eyes but complies, waving a hand in her direction to say, 'Continue by yourself then,' which makes Peggy glare at him for a while before relenting.

She sighs and starts telling them about the mission for next month to destroy one of Hydra's facilities. She doesn't mention specifics, just that it's mostly to gauge their teamwork and Steve's leadership skills, with Dum Dum being the second in command, even if Logan is the most experienced. She notices it makes him slightly uncomfortable, even with his fantastic poker face. The emotions she can feel coming from him don't lie.

She doesn't do anything to reassure him as it would only make him even more wary, but maybe she should do so as he already knows about her being an empath.

Before making a decision, Peggy asks her if she can do some light reconnaissance before they attack, to which she agrees. Peggy and the Colonel glance at each other before the old man speaks, "We already decided how to send the information about your existence."

"Because of its delicate nature and the secrecy you requested, we've decided I'll go to the English Prime Minister before requesting a passage to America to talk with their president."

Going on by Steve's kicked puppy look, he didn't know about it. However, when Peggy goes to look everyone in the eyes to assert her words as she keeps explaining the details of the trip, he changes his expression into something more reassuring.

She can feel Peggy's emotions dull at seeing him so supportive of them being far away from each other.

Ugh. Drama.

Shaking her head, she nods at Peggy when she looks at her with a grateful look because she is grateful. She just needs to try to ignore these exasperating feelings.

There's a dull conversation after the shared news in which she drinks some water. Before anyone can bring any other topic onto the table, she speaks in their minds, 'Now that we're talking about traveling, I'm considering doing some myself.'

The gazes of the Colonel and Peggy sharpen at her words. She explains before they draw the wrong conclusion. 'I don't mean I won't help. I already promised, didn't I? Whenever you need me, be it these reconnaissance missions or an official mission to thwart Hydra's plans or heal someone, I still want to keep helping others. Not just help the big picture.'

Peggy seems to understand her meaning even if the Colonel doesn't, which surprises her. She's been told she could be better at explaining herself many times but without being able to accomplish it. So, seeing the light of understanding in the other woman's eyes is certainly pleasing.

"What do you mean?" the Colonel asks gruffly.

'Helping the forest is good, but I don't want to ignore the trees either. The less fortunate guys who are drowning in despair.'

Peggy leans forward. "How do you plan to do so? By traveling by yourself?"

She nods. 'I can fly and become invisible, not to mention the teleportation I can do, even if it's too taxing. I can also sense the emotions of others, which makes it easier for me to know where to go and who to visit.'

Staring fiercely at them, trying her best to show her determination, she hopes to convince them. The Colonel looks at Peggy incredulously, probably wanting her to share how crazy the idea is.

(She can feel his emotions, so she's pretty sure that's what it means.)

However, to his misfortune, Peggy seems to intensely be contemplating what she just said. "This changes our agreement, but maybe we can change it accordingly. After all, you're a rational being with feelings. We can't be your prison." Seeing the Colonel's expression, she quickly adds, "However, you need to report frequently."

Everyone now turns to the Colonel, who crosses his arms and huffs before relenting. "You said you could teleport, didn't you? Then, we will need to see you every two days to update you about the missions and how you must act if you will be working with us."

She tilts her head. "What's wrong with how I act."

"You do need to learn the basics of the military," Peggy adds. "After all, for the normal soldier, you will be part of us."

After processing her words, she nods. 'I can work with that.'
