บท 7: Demon Sword

-Capital City of Holy Aslan Empire, Trithdell-

Factions, academies, and other organizations, all have their headquarters in this holy city with high towering walls. It was a very busy city with over a million people residing in it. There were flying ships going in and out in the skies.

In an old-fashioned large house with an enormous yard, there are two people arguing inside a well-decorated room. This was not the first time, but a decision needed to be made soon. One was a sixteen or seventeen-year-old beautiful girl with a heart-shaped face, blond hair, and long legs. The other person was a middle-aged man with grey hair and a long face.

"No! Dad I am not leaving the capital just to go to a backward place and hang around with people like Dirk and Gregory. Especially that bastard Dirk, when he thinks I am not looking his gaze turns very lecherous."

Faith Barton had been arguing with her dad, Edmund Barton for over a week over this matter. Edmund was one of the teachers at Saint Rodin Academy. It was one of the four A-class academies in the Holy Aslan Empire. Saint Rodin was more famous these days as the current Emperor is an alumnus of it.

The academies are divided into four classes, A, B, C, and D. D class only has a level four transcendent as its head and hence it is the most numerous and least prestigious. Once every year few teachers are sent out to various parts of the empire by the academies to choose talented juniors to join them.

Edmund was given the mission of going to Lumia city for recruitment this time. The journey would take at least a month from the capital. As their family was just two of them, Edmund was quite reluctant to leave Faith alone in the capital city.

"I know you don't like them, but you don't have to worry the ship is quite big and there will not be many chances of encountering them, you can just stay in your room if you want to completely avoid them"

"I could also just stay here in the capital, that way I can maybe make some progress in 'Cross slash technique', didn't you say you will be back in three months"

"But this is an opportunity for you to see the world outside of the capital, are you going to give that up because of two annoying brats"

Edmund felt it might not be enough to convince Faith, so he decided to offer her something she had been pestering him for some time.

"If you come along on this journey, I will get you the scroll for the 'Surya Nidra' meditation technique"

Faith seemed to be struggling for some time when she heard this, after a while, she agreed to join Edmund on the trip and left the room. But he didn't notice that when she turned her lips were curled upwards as she had achieved her purpose.

-NewMoon Woods-

It's a small forest located north of Pato, the strongest beasts are only at level two, but people rarely go deeper into it as the most dominant species is wolves. as the wolves hunt in packs rarely do you find lone adventurers here. But in a small clearing in the forest, there is a young man sitting on a boulder cross-legged with a sword on his lap.

If not for the fallen bodies of ten-plus wolves around him, you would mistake him you an ascetic monk. The wolves' bodies are strange as there doesn't seem to be any blood in them, all of them are pale and shrunken, which makes for a creepy atmosphere. The youth is emanating a very sinister aura.

It's been a full week since Arthur took over the cave, life is more like a routine. Every morning Arthur would take Bheem and go hunting. Around two hours before Sunset, he would return to the cave to refine the sinister force in his energy. His energy has been increasing at a quick pace, but so has the sinister force.

Arthur knew things were going bad for him, but his mind was filled with thoughts of vengeance and hence he still kept absorbing the blood of his victims. Another thing that caught his attention was that the sword seemed to have repaired itself. Its appearance was completely different from the time he acquired it.

The blade has changed color to crimson red, and the engraving that was on it when it got enchanted was nowhere to be seen. The hilt is completely remade with a dark red iron. The guard strongly resembles a mouth with garnets for its teeth with the blade extending out of it like a tongue. There is also a skull-shaped pommel with two granites on it. If observed closely one would realize that the granites on the sword are actually blood crystals. Overall it gives a very evil and sinister feeling.

Even though its appearance has changed a lot, it is still a low-grade magic sword. and hence he could only rely on it to help in increasing his energy as Silvercolt was an established family with a very strong Baron at its head. With their wealth, he would surely have a high-grade magic weapon with him, it could easily destroy his sword.

It is said that if Baron Herman got serious even Viscounts would find it hard to kill him. You need to be a level three transcendent to gain Viscount status. Hence Arthur would need to not only achieve at least the peak stage of level two but also have a magic tool of at least mid-grade.

Right now, He is trying to clear off some bloody aura of his body after sucking the blood of the wolves. His energy quantity has increased a lot and he is already at the early stage of level two.

Each level is divided into four stages namely- early, mid, later, and peak stages. After awakening, you can easily raise your levels with hard work and good meditation techniques. The major bottleneck only appears when you are trying to enter level four. Without a good meditation technique, it is almost impossible to try and break through, which is why the majority of the transcendent in the border region remains in levels two and three.

After all, good meditation techniques are all with the academies, and they are all located in the central part of the empire, where there are more resources for advancement. Even though they do yearly recruitment, they have strict entry requirements. Hence noble families like Silvercolt only have a low-grade meditation technique, which in turn slows the rate at which they advance.

-Bheem's POV-

Bheem was quite glad that Arthur was meditating, as Arthur had a habit of grumbling to himself about his vengeance and he had already understood the full story of how Arthur lost his family. But he was not overly attached to it. After all, just like how Arthur views him as a tool to exact vengeance on the Silvercolt family, Bheem too just wants to use Arthur to strengthen himself.

So what if Arthur suffered a lot of injustice, it is not his place to correct the wrongs in the world. As long as people exist there will be societies, and where societies exist there will be unfairness and darkness. There is no difference whether it's Aristocracy or Democracy society. Humans will always prioritize things that benefit them while ignoring things that will benefit others. There are very few selfless people.

Ever since the simulation, he did in the cave two days ago. After all, he doesn't necessarily need to stick to Arthur to get strong. And in the simulation, there was an option to not empower Arthur and let him die to the bandits. If he did that his wielder would probably shift to the bandit leader, Logan.

He was very pleased with the Demonize skill, which was clearly the power possessed by the fabled sword "Frostmourne" that corrupted prince Arthas in the Warcraft series. If he could also possess the ability to communicate with the wielder he would be very happy, after all, he wanted to increase his level very badly. Legendary sword spirits don't need a wielder to exert their powers into the world.

These few days, Arthur had been a killing machine, hunting and draining the blood of all the victims and it was now harder to find beasts in this part of the forest. Thanks to that Bheem had been able to repair his body and was looking really cool now. The change in appearance was completely Bheems handiwork, as he realized that if he was constructing a destroyed part he could modify it to his will.

Bheem doesn't exactly care if he becomes a demon sword, after all, the sword was created as a tool to kill. Whether demonic or holy it can't change that fact, so why should he be bothered by it. The only reason he is trying to control the demonic aura and clear it is that he doesn't the wielders to lose control of themselves and go crazy. It would severely slow down his progress into a higher-tiered weapon.

After all, it would be much harder for a wanted man to collect resources not to mention not every wielder will be interested in upgrading the sword, they might just shift to another weapon.
