"I will be waiting for you at the usual spot after school" The driver announced while staring at me from the corner of his eyes. It was something he said all the time, but I was going to be hearing this for the last time, hopefully. I didn't want to admit it, I was going to miss him.
He might have been just a driver, but he was a good driver and I liked him more because just like me, he didn't like idle chit-chat…
"Alright" I said with a nod as I climbed out of the car. Unlike the other days, my bag was much fuller and heavier than other days even though I wasn't carrying any books in my bag, instead, I was carrying a few sets of clothes and my allowance money in the bag. It was a good thing that Ren and Mai never bothered to check what was in my book.
I entered the school like any other day, but instead of heading to my class, I decided to head straight towards the washroom… There were two places I could use to escape from the school. One of them was the roof and the other was the washroom on the 1st floor. I could have used the roof, but there were CCTV cameras in the staircases. Someone would have noticed my ascent.
However, there was no surveillance inside the washrooms as expected… I could have escaped from the washroom on the ground floor, but the windows on the ground floor were barricaded. I could have easily bent them, but the effort wasn't worth it since I could easily climb out of the window of the 1st-floor washroom and survive the fall with ease.
I wasn't alone, so I decided to enter one of the stalls and wait for the others to leave… I didn't have to wait for long as the voices continued to become distant. When I was finally confident that the washroom was empty, I stepped out of the stall and easily climbed through the window with a single jump. Landing on my feet also wasn't that difficult.
I gave the school a last look and ran toward the fence without wasting any time. I slung my bag over my shoulder and jumped over the fence with a bit of effort… Even though I wasn't transformed, my physical stats were better than any normal athletes out there. I always kept my Quirk ramped up, just in case, but not enough to transform.
I made a smooth landing on the other side and looked around. Thankfully, there were no CCTVs on this side of the fence. Now that I was out of school, I needed to make my way to Jaku City and to be honest, it was easier said than done… Thankfully, the street on this side was also empty or my escape would have been noticed already.
Usually, at this time, children of my age should be at school and since I was still wearing my school uniform, I was going to draw even more attention. First of all, I needed to get changed and even then I might draw too much attention, but I didn't have any time to waste. There was a chance that the school might inform my parents of my absence and the jig would be up.
People would start looking for me, and the area around the school would be cordoned off. There was always a chance that the school might not inform my parents, but I was not willing to take my chances… I needed to start moving before anyone could realize what was happening. I started to walk along the street as casually as I could before I stepped into one of the alleys to get changed.
I was already wearing a set of casual clothes under my uniform, so I simply took off my uniform and stuffed it inside the bag. It was a usable set of clothes, so I decided not to throw it away… I came out from the other side of the alley and found myself in a crowded street. Thankfully, almost all the people were too busy staring at their smartphones or the roads to pay any attention to the little old me.
With no one paying me any heed, it was easy for me to make my way to the train station. I could have taken a bus, but a train would be the fastest and safest means to reach Jaku City. Getting a ticket would have been troublesome if there weren't any automated counters. I did get some weird looks here and then, but besides that, the ride was completely uneventful.
Now that I was finally in Jaku City, the first thing I needed to do was to explore… I might have done a lot of research on the internet, but all of that would be useless if I couldn't navigate through the city on my own. I also needed to find the most suitable nightclub I could conquer and I also needed to find the casinos I read about… Well, calling them casinos would be stretching it a bit too far.
In Japan, casinos were illegal, but there were illegal gambling dens all over Japan. Even though I wasn't planning to take over one of them, I needed to know where they were, just in case… However, all the nightclubs and gambling dens were closed right now, which meant I needed to find a place to crash temporarily.
"Am I lucky or what?" I asked myself as I noticed an incomplete 7-storey building. The building was still under construction, but for whatever reason, there was nobody in sight except for a lot of warning signs. The place was basically abandoned… A perfect place for me to spend the rest of the day. I looked around to check if anybody was around before I jumped over the fence.
Hmm… This could be my temporary base of operations since I wasn't expecting to find a nightclub to conquer in one day. I also needed to get the lay of the land before attempting anything… I needed to find out everything I could find about all the local gangs and the Quirks their members possessed… I might have jumped the gun during the party incident, but I wasn't going to repeat the same mistake again.
I needed to be completely prepared before making my first move because there would be no going back after that…
