บท 31: Monster From The Past
In a world without the stars, moon, and sun. A realm without time, day, and night. There was only silence, not the serenity that made one fall into a deep sleep but the solitude that made the hairs stand on end.
This was a realm with infinite possibilities which could only be limited by a person's imagination. But even so this realm was very dark and empty; there was only silence everywhere. Silence because the most crucial thing had disappeared from this realm. And that was a Sin.
In a remote place unknown to all living beings, there was a very dark room. There were only two lights illuminating this room; the light from the monitor and the light from a candle that was gradually getting dimmer.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
The monitor did not have a cable connecting it to a device or it was more accurate to describe it as a screen which was floating in a room. The monitor depicted a woman with cat ears and a cat's tail. She was very nimble and possessed a certain grace as she continuously dodged all the attacks of her enemy, her enemy was some sort of creature which was half human half snake and it wielded a trident.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
A black silhouette with no eyes and no mouth sat in front of the screen hugging its two legs. There was no clear depiction of this black silhouette, only pointed ears and a dimly lit candle floating in its stomach could be made out from this vague figure.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
The figure looked so lonely in the middle of the very quiet and dark room, even so the figure seemed to be enjoying its time which could be deduced from how the figure swayed its body back and forth. There was always a voice that seemed to be coming from its direction even though it didn't have a mouth. The voice sometimes sounded cheerful, serious, sad, amused, and surprised.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
The figure was really enjoying its time.
"Hmm... the Medusa is indeed a very terrible creature.... Why is this game so difficult to play... does Doodle not care about its customers... Why boss….?" The figure mumbled incoherently.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"HAHAHAHA!!! Leona beat her!!! Beat her Leona!!!" he shouted with great enthusiasm.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"AAAHHHH!!! The Medusa should look sexy!! What the hell is this black half snake thing!!?? You should give her sexy clothes!! Ah... the game's designer is so lazy!!" he said disappointedly.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"AAAAHHHH!!! My Leona is hurt!! hu..hu..hu.. Luckily there are no scars on her white and smooth skin!! Otherwise I will complain to Doodle!! They think they can just get away with everything because they have money!" the figure said sadly which then quickly turned into annoyance. From the figure's voice it could be deduced that it was male
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Hmm... the Medusa ran??? What the hell?!! Is this a cut scene? Huh? What!!! Fucking weird!! This game is weird!! Shit, I got Goosebumps!! What kind of monster has that kind of life-like personality? Weird!!!" he said while feeling goosebumps.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Besides, the NPCs in this game are really weird! It's okay if The Instructor has a very lively expression because, after all she is a very important NPC, the same goes for grandpa Sutono because he is a blacksmith so he must often interact with the players." the black silhouette said and nodded.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"However!!!! The villagers are so weird!! Okay they all have activities like NPCs but their faces are so human!!! How can there be a game that can make multiple faces for each NPC!!! How big is the data storage to be able to do that?? It's okay if there are only five or 10 NPCs with different faces!" the black silhouette said and then shook his head.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"However!!! They all look different!! Maybe the other beta testers didn't notice this oddity because most of them live on other continents so they have a hard time distinguishing NPCs from other races. But I know for sure that these villagers are Javanese!" the black silhouette said then he started feeling goosebumps.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Besides, I didn't see the other players get killed in the Paddy Field.... Ah... I didn't even see a single player get killed outside the mansion grounds, I didn't even see a single one! What happened to them!? Are they out of the game? uuuhhhh... fucking weird" the black silhouette shook its head again.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Ah... Leona won! hehehe... The Instructor is so pretty!! Wow!! Nice work to whoever designed her character! Hmm?? House of Blorong? Ah—"
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Does that mean Blorong is a clan name? Hmm..."
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"..Ah Mom! I'm still watching Leona! Can you not bother me" said the black silhouette in annoyance.
<... he...he...he...he.... I'm not your mom. he...he...he...he.... you can hear me now? he...he...he...he....>
{What the fuck are you doing here!!?!}
"Ah... Leona has leveled up! ooohh she leveled up! She got five status points? What should I add?? hihihi Leona is so cute" the black silhouette returned his focus to the monitor.
<he...he...he...he.... Pig... How... Long... can ... you… keep... hiding... ME?>
{As long as I can!! I will protect him from you!!}
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Ah... Dad, I'm already eating!! You can eat with mom, I'm already full!" the figure said, his voice sounding restless.
{Stop it! Stop it!}
"Leona proposed to The Instructor??!!! HAHAHAHA!!!" the voice of the black silhouette sounded cheerful.
*Knock! *Knock! *Knock!
"Hmm... Mom, I don't want to go to school!" the black silhouette said but this time it sounded sleepy.
{I SAID STOP IT!!!}
The monitor suddenly turned off and the flames from the candle shook.
The Black silhouette was asleep.
<I... will.... come... You... can....not.... erase.... ME!!! ..... is.... he!!....he...he...he...he....>
The room was still and dark again. The monitor light was off and only the dim candlelight lit up the room....
A new silhouette appeared.
His arms were round like torn bread, his chin was layered over his neck, his fat legs made him look short, and when he curled up he looked like a ball of meat.
His long, greasy hair looked disgusting, and the abnormality of his ears made him look like an elf, but when paired with his snub nose and wide lips he looked like an animal, a pig.
He approached the black silhouette with a faint candle floating in his belly. Its enormous body almost covered half the room.
He knelt down and embraced the black silhouette.

A split personality refers to dissociative identity disorder (DID), a mental disorder where a person has two or more distinct personalities. The thoughts, actions, and behaviors of each personality may be completely different.
People with DID have two or more distinct personalities. They do not present as simple changes in traits or moods. A person with DID expresses significant differences between these alternate identities, which can also be referred to as alters.
Often, these personalities are completely different from each other. These fragmented personalities take control of the person's identity for some time.
A person also maintains their primary or host identity, which is their original personality, and will answer to their given name. Their primary identity is generally more passive, and they may be unaware of the other personalities.
When a personality change happens, the new personality will have a distinct history, a new identity, and different behaviors.
These split personalities, or alters, often have their own distinct:
- name
- age
- gender
- moods
- memories
- vocabulary
A new personality will see themselves differently. For instance, someone assigned male at birth may have an alternate identity as a woman. They may experience themselves with female biological sex characteristics.
Myth: DID is the same thing as schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning, and can be disabling.
Delusions. These are false beliefs that are not based in reality. For example, you think that you're being harmed or harassed; certain gestures or comments are directed at you; you have exceptional ability or fame; another person is in love with you; or a major catastrophe is about to occur. Delusions occur in most people with schizophrenia.
Hallucinations. These usually involve seeing or hearing things that don't exist. Yet for the person with schizophrenia, they have the full force and impact of a normal experience. Hallucinations can be in any of the senses, but hearing voices is the most common hallucination.
Disorganized thinking (speech). Disorganized thinking is inferred from disorganized speech. Effective communication can be impaired, and answers to questions may be partially or completely unrelated. Rarely, speech may include putting together meaningless words that can't be understood, sometimes known as word salad.
Extremely disorganized or abnormal motor behavior. This may show in a number of ways, from childlike silliness to unpredictable agitation. Behavior isn't focused on a goal, so it's hard to do tasks. Behavior can include resistance to instructions, inappropriate or bizarre posture, a complete lack of response, or useless and excessive movement.
Negative symptoms. This refers to reduced or lack of ability to function normally. For example, the person may neglect personal hygiene or appear to lack emotion (doesn't make eye contact, doesn't change facial expressions or speaks in a monotone). Also, the person may lose interest in everyday activities, socially withdraw or lack the ability to experience pleasure.)
