บท 60: Survivor’s guilt

Yin Zhu almost screamed out loud but then her gaze fell on the small figure that was sitting near her feet and that was when she realised that the thing that jumped at her out of nowhere was actually a cat and that too the Zhang family cat.

" Oh goodness Titi, you scared me," she gasped with a hand over her chest as she looked at the black cat that the Zhang family raised, she looked at those green eyes that were staring at her pitifully and then Yin Zhu's heart softened. She could see that the cat was just as scared as her, in just one night her family was taken away and now she was roaming the alleys of the slum looking for a new family to take her in.

Surely, this cat must have gone to look for other families as well but given that she was a black cat and that misfortune fell on the Zhang family after just a week later they fostered this cat, surely the families in the slum would think twice before accepting her.
