บท 29: Chapter 29: Facing Him Again

She spent her morning, and afternoon in her bed sleeping until late in the evening. She woke up to the sound of an alarm clock blaring. Rubbing her eyes she groggily got up on her bed. Yawning, stretching her arms above her head.

Turning her alarm clock off, she took her phone and inspected the time. The eyes which were half sleepy, half awake, quickly wide. It was already 7:00 pm.

"Shit!! I am late for the event," She exclaimed while jumping down onto her bed. Rushing towards her closet and pulling out her dress from the hanger. Going straight to her bathroom she washed her face, brushed her teeth then changed into her dress.

Exiting the bathroom she sat in front of her vanity mirror and applied primer on her face. Making sure it was dry and applied foundation quickly. She then concealed her under eyes. Applying blush and highlighter on her cheeks. Painting her eyes with eyeshadow, she put on her eye lenses. Framing her eyes with eyeliner and mascara. Finally, add a bit of red lipstick and press her lips together to accentuate her red lips. Lastly, applying gloss on her lips to make them glossy.

" What should I do with my hair? Should I straighten them or tie them up? Or should I brush it? Do I even have a brush?!" she exclaimed while grabbing both sides of her hair and tugging on her hair as if the answers were written on her hand.

She pulled her hair and looked at it. She then decided to pull it straight. She tied her hair in a bun and let her bangs.

" I am ready," she whispered while staring in the mirror. She moved slightly to open her jewelry drawers. Taking pearl earrings, a silver ring, and a matching bracelet. She wore them.

"Let's go!" Li Xia mumbled while standing up from her vanity chair moving to her closet to choose her clutch and heels.

Putting on her heels. She put the invitation card and phone inside her clutch and placed her clutch bag on her shoulders and walked outside her room.

Walking downstairs, she reached the entrance door and exited her apartment building. She already called a cab that was waiting for her in front of her apartment. She flopped inside and gave the address to the cab driver.

The event had already started when Li Xia entered the venue. The guests started to arrive one by one. People were mingling, drinking, and conversing with one another. The sound of glasses clinking against one another was audible. The music was playing on the sound system.

All the partygoers were enjoying themselves with their drinks. Li Xia surveyed the place and spotted Zai Hai standing near the bar area.

He was dressed in an off-white suit. His black hair was slicked back making him look very sophisticated and handsome. Some of his hair fell on his forehead softly.

This was her first time seeing him in a suit. And he was looking magnanimous. He was chatting with a person who seemed to be in his mid-forties. Li Xia decided to walk toward him and greet him.

"Mr. Chen meet Li Xia," Zai Hai introduced her to the man in his mid-forties.

"Pleased to meet you, Li Xia," the man stretched out his right hand towards her while smiling. Li Xia shook his hand.

"It's nice meeting you, Mr. Chen. Li Xia continued. I am always a big fan of your work."

Mr. Chen was a famous director in the entertainment world. He was well known for his work in directing movies and TV series.

His movie was nominated for several awards and won multiple awards for its production value and artistic vision.

"I have heard a lot about you. My wife is a fan of your work. She always buys those products which you recommend. I am glad to finally meet you," Mr. Chen continued to smile while shaking her hand.

"That's kind of you to say. I am honored by your words," she smiled politely back at him.

"Why not consider becoming an actress?" He suggested while drinking his wine.

"You flattered me, Mr. Chen."

He laughed at her answer " I'm only suggesting because you are quite talented."

Li Xia nodded in agreement " Thank you so much for the compliment."

"Then I will see you around," Mr. Chen answered and walked away.

"You look beautiful today," Zai Hai complimented her with a smile on his face. She replied by giving him a polite smile back.

"You know how to flatter a girl," she joked, earning a slight laugh from him.

"Well I try," he responded and continued drinking his wine.

That's when her gaze fell on two men who were coming towards them. It was none other than Luo Yuan wearing a black tuxedo. And beside him was a guy that she had never seen before, but she immediately recognized him as his profile was mentioned in the guest information. His was Cheng Liang who was Luo Yuan's business partner.

"Shit!! why are they coming towards our direction?" She mumbled while looking at the two men. A nervous feeling spread throughout her body. She didn't know how to escape from this situation. Her heart pounded fast.

How will she escape this time?? The moment that she was avoiding for the past two days has finally arrived.
