Once they had returned to the floor, the atmosphere seemed a little different than before and everyone was quieter than usual.
There were far less people that had greeted Brick, Tanya and Buffy once they had returned.
Some had turned their heads away once Brick had looked towards their direction like they were trying to avoid him or they had a guilty conscience.
Seeing that there was something going on, Brick had walked over towards the first person that had opened the door for them. "Report on what has been going on since we left."
Upon being questioned, a girl who was a part of the Flying Heralds group had responded in a quiet voice. "Um.. I do not know how to say this but.. while you three had been away, the rest of the group had been discussing who should lead and.."
Brick rolled his eyes and complained internally. 'Typical.. it just had to happen right now at such an important time..'
He was a little annoyed that something was taking place before the arrangements could be made to leave.
The previous preparations had made it a lot safer for people to join in and there were more than enough sets of keys for many to make use of so they could follow or go their own way.
Brick had hoped to part ways peacefully with each person that had been saved from the other floors or that was already a part of the group that was on the current floor when the time came but the situation had made that difficult.
The most annoying part of surviving in the apocalypse and helping out others was that many did not understand the dangers of the outside so they underestimated the contributions that had been made by those that went to gather supplies or clear away the zombies.
If someone was away for the sake of the group then everyone that had been left behind would be free to plot among themselves and stir up trouble.
Brick grit his teeth and asked. "What is all this about?"
The girl lowered her head and stuttered. "T..they want to change how we will distribute the supplies and they want 'him' released."
Brick nodded slowly. "It seems that he still has his claws in many of them so even without his presence, he can still cause problems.."
Brick had been able to slow down some of the possible changes that could of taken place with a single move but it could not remove any kind of future troubles completely.
The young master of the Barnes family may have been locked away and others may have been put in their place a little while being able to experience killing a zombie under the guidance of Brick but it was not enough to stop a division from forming within the group of survivors.
There were those that still put their faith towards the young master and had still looked down on the outside threat or had believed that the young master was the solution rather than Brick and Tanya.
Brick had made their experience very controlled to prevent the risk of them being bitten or scratched when killing the zombies he brought in so that could have caused them to not take the threat seriously.
The addition of the people that had been found on other floors that had not experienced the same situation had some among them that were grateful for being rescued but there were some that had put their hopes on staying with whoever looked better in terms of providing benefits and their survival.
The promise of them being rescued by the influential family of the young master and being taken in by him was much more appealing than any kinds of promises that could be made by Brick who had no real status.
He may have been capable but he still served the Reed family that was below the Barnes family in terms of financial, power and status so how could he possibly attract them?
Many still had the belief that the people at the top would soon take back the world and reestablish the old world and many others had believed that the old ways still worked.
Brick did not wish to blame them for something that they did not yet realise since they had yet to experience the outside world but it was still something that they would have to live with once they made such a decision.
He walked back towards Tanya and whispered. "The group is dividing so it is the best time to move out to avoid any trouble that may take place. The Reed family name cannot really be used to change how things will turn out so we may get less than expected."
Tanya showed a serious expression and nodded. "I expected this so it is not that bad. How should we handle everything else?"
Brick showed a smile and calmly said. "Just leave it to me."
