If there was one ship who didn’t mind being confined to base it was Carter. After a long patrol, everyone else was eager to explore and reacquaint themselves with civilization. The lockdowns prevented that. Carter had no desire to explore, except maybe one or two crannies of her dock she hadn’t seen yet. Nebraska had just gotten back herself and was on station at the base entrance. “Welcome back Carter.” She greeted. Carter dipped her bow slightly in reply. “Nebraska.” She returned politely but without so much as a smile. Carter never smiled. She was so stoic and unflappable that it was a game among the newbies to get her to crack. Of course they didn’t know what Nebraska did. That Carter had cracked long ago. “Anything to report?” Nebraska asked. “Other than a few pesky freighters that delayed my turn to the canal, no.” Carter replied. Nebraska chuckled, ignoring the eye roll Carter sent her as she passed.
