ตอน 51: Septerra Core Arc - 1

Khan was looking at his options, he had to carefully consider his options. Thanks to the gift from the God Emperor of Mankind, Khan had access to the Legions, as well as Orks and Drukhari. The problem was that he was restricted to one faction/legion per planet. Once he has more planets to work with or the ability to create them back home that won't be an issue anymore.

For his first real campaign, Khan decided to get his feet wet with one of the Legions, but which one? Each had their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Salamanders have the reputation of being nicest pyromaniacs, while the Space Wolves are all about that melee.

Khan also had to take their personalities into account, as well as their specialties. So, for a first-time outing, an all-rounder would be best. Not one to play on easy just because he can, Khan decided to use the tried and true, Blood Angels.

The building designs were as expected, a neo-gothic with a red color scheme. The images came with names and descriptions, which was helpful. Particularly, the little tidbit that said the barracks could only create Space Marines. Interestingly, both support and defensive structures would generate their own staff or defenders from the Astra Militarum branch. Said individuals would operate exclusively within the building that spawned them.

Another important piece of information was the fact that for every five squads of Space Marines a corresponding supply depot must be created and maintained. Supply depots themselves serves no functions other than keeping troops in peek condition without any of the usual means like food and sleep

Khan kept going through the information he was being provided, after all he didn't want to be blindsided at a critical junction later. Like the fact that all spawned Space Marines would be given standard armor and a bolter rifle. Special equipment would have to be created and collected from the armory.

Khan then positioned the barracks. As it started to take shape, a number of words could be used to describe what Khan was witnessing. Majestic, awe-inspiring, or even astonishing, however, words like subtle or quiet were not among that list. Process wasn't fast, but it wasn't slow either. The sound of metal grinding and slamming against each other would probably carry at least half a mile.

The whole process was set to take thirty minutes, considering how big the building was going to be, it was a reasonable time frame. If he found out that if he wanted to create multiple buildings simultaneously, he would need special equipment. Equipment that currently was not available, neither through creation or through sales.

Accepting that he would have some time, Khan decided to check this world's mission list. The general mission was the same as the others, collecting resources, territory, and people. The special mission however was slightly different. The last three missions, they were about dealing with the protagonists in one of three ways. However, this time was somewhat different.

[Septerra Core Exclusive: Deal with both Maya of the Junkers and Lord Doskias of the Chosen.

Reward: a command ship; the fortress monastery The Martyr]

Khan knew of the Martyr, from the Warhammer 40K universe, a massive ship designed similarly to an apocalypse-class dreadnought, only potentially significantly larger. He wasn't sure though because as far as he knew, its actual size was never stated. However, Khan was more interested in the term command ship. As he looked through the panel hoping to find an answer, he stopped as he noticed something that he could've swore that it wasn't there before. Tucked into a corner was a button that said, "FAQ support."

He pressed and a new screen appeared. Two things were on it. The first, a search bar, and the second was a message that stated its purpose was to answer questions about the system and identified features and could not answer any question about things on as of yet to be interacted with.

'So, no asking about the condition of Marvel's heroes because I haven't been there yet.'

Khan currently only had one question at that moment. From the lack of a keyboard, Khan assumed it was voice activated. So, he asked, "What is a command ship?" A second later his question was in the search bar. Then a new panel appeared before him.

[Command Ship: an optional mobile starting point. While limited to only one in the beginning, any command ship can be built by their associated faction. Depending on the size, it will allow the immediate summoning, in specific quantities of both subordinates and paramours. It will also allow the construction of an entire base, either through a preset or in a custom manner. Origin of command ship does not dictate which faction base it can create.

To be considered as a command ship, the following must be met:

It must have a history of housing and supplying military forces.

It must also be a named ship or associated with a leader of some renowned.

Warning: using a command ship is the same as summoning an army, same penalties and bonus forfeitures apply.]

As Khan read it certain things clicked. This was the equipment that was needed for a faster base build. The other thing was the fact that only two buildings in the entire options menu were limited to one per planet. The Command Center and the building called the Commander's Quarters. The Command Center allowed him to summon officers, limit five per building. And the Commander's Quarters allowed him to summon a paramour, limit one per building.

It made sense, after all he was here to conquer, not shove the responsibility to others while he played bedsheet bingo. A loud clank notified him that the barracks was finished. It would automatically create batches of Space Marines, between five to ten at a time. As long as the appropriate support was available. Realizing it wouldn't start until other things were taken care of, and so, the command center was the next to go up.

For this campaign he could only have access to five officers. Tanya was one, and the next would-be Celestine. A chance to see the Holy Saint in action, and perhaps see how progress would go if he attempted to corrupt her. But who should the other three be.

After some back and forth with himself, Khan settled on having Zagara be the third. The Zerg setting a hive on Shell 7 should be beneficial for the campaign. As for the final two Khan decided on Dordoni and Gantenbainne.

He hadn't really used those two since the fight at the Fake Karakura Town. Plus, there was still the aspects in his inventory. He was so used to storing things in his shadow, he had forgotten about it. Inside was an orb that held the aspects of war, death, famine, and pestilence. The description said that it held each aspect, and that each aspect was a one-time application and could only be given to a compatible user.

While waiting Khan discovered that, while only one structure could be built at a time, he could place and que others. Which meant he could arrange everything, and simply wait while each one got built. With this newfound freedom, Khan decided to observe his required targets.

First was Doskias, he appeared to be in conference with three creepy floating figures, which Khan assumed was the Magi. Upon closer inspection, it appears they were discussing the need to continue to bow to the emperor. The lack of a way to force the others to rally behind him was the only thing keeping Doskias from openly rebelling.

Which meant the keys hadn't been found yet. Khan then turned his attention to Maya of the Junkers. He picked her out quickly enough. A young woman with light blue hair, a rifle, and makeshift armor composed of leather and metal. She was just casually going through some junk piles, looking for something of value to trade for food. Khan guessed that she was twenty-two years old. Which meant the big quest of destiny could happen at any time this year.

...

Maya had just finished her shift from the junk piles. Nothing that she found would make a suitable gift for the kids, but still, it would put food on the table. Between the wild animals in the pass and scrap in the junk piles, they had a steady income.

Maya looked up at Shell One, she didn't know why but it always felt like someone was watching her. Suddenly a roar could be heard from the distance. She turned to face the source, expecting to find some ship. Instead, she saw what look like a rock sailing overhead. It quickly disappeared over the horizon.

A piece of her wondered how far it would go, and would it make it all the way to Shell Seven. Maya began to put it out of her mind. It didn't land on Shell Two or land near Oasis, so she wouldn't worry about it. Maya looked at the sky, there was already no trace of that rock. She resumed walking towards Oasis. Back to Uncle and the others.

...

Time marched on, Khan had established his base and was building his forces. He had Zagara build a hive cluster on Shell Seven. The hazardous environment was perfect for her, thankfully Zagara came with her own drones. So, while Khan couldn't use the system to build her base, Zagara could do it herself.

That being said, he really couldn't control her base either. It would be all on her. From what he could observe it was going well. Zagara's hive was established, and she was building her forces. Honestly, with her base so close to the mold forest even the local minors have failed to notice her presence.

While waiting for the event that would kick everything off, Khan used his free time to start working on Celestine. He found the activity of corrupting a saint to be a fun distraction. It was enjoyable to see her hold out. To resist the notion that he had absolute authority over her body.

When she finally succumbed and surrendered herself, Khan didn't bother keeping track how long he enjoyed her body. The only thing that really mattered was that when he was finished, the real starting event. The moment a Chosen ship flew over Maya, Grubb, and Runner's head, the moment that signaled Doskias was making his moves had begun.

When Doskias left, Khan would have his forces invade and conquer Shell One. He would just have to time it right, after Wind City falls Doskias should be too far away in to receive any distress calls. Zagara would wait though. Her mission was to destroy Ankara's doomsday weapon after General Campbell launched it. Ankara and Jinnam would be exhausted from fighting each other.

Which should leave Doskias trapped by his Blood Angels from above and Zagara's brood from below, but like everything else timing was everything.

He would watch Maya as she struggled to piece everything together. Then Khan thought about how best to deal with Maya. He could take his time, break her through her companions. Doskias should be killed during the pincer, but no matter the scenario, Khan knew he had to be prepared if either of them proved to be greater threats then he anticipated. After all, he didn't make it this far just because he assumed he knew everything. No, he made sure he knew everything.
