บท 22: Chapter 22 - Titan Giant Ape

As one of the three big wild spirit beast habitats, this naturally was the place Spirit Masters most wished to be able to hunt, because every time coming here, meant they would advance.
Nobody could say clearly for just how many years Star Dou Great Forest had existed on Douluo Continent, but after entering the forest, hiding the sky and covering the earth's lushness was sufficient to tell people it was an ancient existence.
Meanwhile, while they were running deep inside, Zhao Wuji started explaining all the hidden dangers that they would encounter in the forest. He also reprimanded everyone to be careful and alert at the same time since the place was full of danger everywhere.
Once they were deep inside, they encountered a lot of spirit beasts from small to big and young to old and they would take a detour every time they met one because Tang San said that if a battle occurs, the scent of blood and noise will possibly attract powerful spirit beasts towards their location.
After moving forward for about two hours, Zhao Wuji this time ordered everyone to stop and rest as it was already noon. He stopped at a nice spot before saying, "Everyone, let's rest for a moment."
Upon hearing, Lev and the others then cleared away the surrounding brambles with one swing, creating nearly one hundred square meters of open space. Right after that, everyone then sat down leaning against some trees, talking while the others were temporarily recovering.
As they were resting, Lev, Tang San, and Zhao Wuji's gazes simultaneously turned in one direction making the others suddenly alerted by their actions thinking something must have happened.
Zhao Wuji shouted in a loud voice, "Get up, there is something approaching."
Following the orders, Tang San and the others then made a battle formation and released their spirits ready to engage in battle.
Not long after that, each one of them could now clearly sense that the creature was approaching at a very high speed.
"Zhu Zhuqing, take a look at what it is." Zhao Wuji ordered in a low voice.
Hearing Zhao Wuji's order, Zhu Zhuqing then leaped and climbed a large tree to look in the direction of the spirit beast wanting to make a very good look at what it is.
Very quickly, Zhu Zhuqing's clear and cold voice came from the tree, "It looks like a flying serpent, only it doesn't fly very high, it can only fly about three meters off the ground. On its head is a crest, it would appear still larger than its head, bright red like blood. Its tail is comparatively unusual, fan-shaped."
Zhao Wuji's eyes shone after hearing Zhu Zhuqing's description. He then said with a smile, "It's a Phoenix Tail Crest Serpent, this kind of spirit beast is rare, the crest on top of its head has many fantastic effects. Oscar, you've been blessed today."
Immediately after that, they then talked about how to handle and approach the incoming spirit beast. Knowing that it was a rare type that was compatible with Oscar, everyone wanted to help in capturing it successfully.

Zhu Zhuqing then notified, "It's here."
With that, a huge snake can be seen, appearing six or seven meters long. On the top of its head was a bright red comb, looking somewhat odious. Its rapidly advancing body arrives just right to run into Zhu Zhuqing.
Zhu Zhuqing immediately attacked to distract and slow its speed, but the spirit beast reacted very quickly. It opened its mouth wide toward Zhu Zhuqing, spraying a seven-colored thick fog.
Upon seeing the situation, Ning Rongrong then used a spirit ability, "Seven Treasure Words, Second Spoken: Speed."
With Ning Rongrong's help, Zhu Zhuqing successfully evaded but her situation was still not good.
Lev, on the ground, frowns after seeing Zhu Zhuqing's condition. He looked at her as he sighed thinking that she probably underestimated the beast and didn't use properly the skills he had shared or perhaps she was still not that used to them and still adjusting now. Seeing her situation, he then suddenly summoned Infinity in his inventory.
Holding Infinity in his hand, Lev then said, "Transform: Bow."
Seconds later, Infinity mystically became a bow with exquisite design on it. However, it would not be of use since he doesn't have any arrows which prompted him to use one of his trump cards again. He then activated, "Elemental Control."
[Torso Soul Bone: Dragon God
Description: A soul bone extracted from Dragon God, the initiator of all Spirit Beasts and the creator of the Divine Dragon Domain.
Skills:
* Elemental Control (Active)
Description: Using the ability, it allows the host to create, shape, and manipulate Earth, Fire, Water, and Air elements at will. In addition, activating the skill will allow the host to be more friendly to the four elements in the surroundings.
* Elemental Guard (Active)
Description: Using the ability allows the host to create a powerful defensive skill by combining the four elements into a shield. It wasn't just capable of protecting oneself but also other people having the ability to defend against any attack.]
With that, dragon scales suddenly covered Lev's torso hidden under his clothes from which he then manipulated water elements and easily created Ice Arrows with them. He immediately took aim towards the spirit beast before shooting targeting its wings. Though his bowmanship wasn't that superb, it still had sharpness coming from it seeing that upon contact with the arrow, some part of the spirit beast's wings froze. He continued shooting until its two wings were completely frozen and of no use anymore.
Such a result, the spirit beast without the support of its wings finally falls to the ground from which Lev then deactivated his Soul Bone ability and returned back to normal as the crashing sound could be heard.
….Boom….
This time, Tang San and the others all looked at Lev. Lev's bowsmanship was not on their plan, but his response to the situation was superb. Zhao Wuji, on the other hand, just nodded after seeing Lev's action and thought just how much experience he had to react as fast as that.
Right after that, Tang San and the others then all looked at his weapon and think where it came from especially the arrows he had used to impale the wing of the spirit beast.
"Thank you." Zhu Zhuqing gave thanks while stabilizing himself. She gritted her teeth thinking that if not for his intervention, she might not have ended up with no injuries.
"If you don't hurry, the spirit beast might die." Lev nodded and then looked at the spirit beast on the ground. Without giving any explanation, he then just put it back Infinity on his inventory.
Hearing Lev, Zhao Wuji then woke up and hurriedly said, "Oscar, immediately kill the spirit beast and absorb the spirit ring."
Without waiting for any second, Oscar immediately moved forward and thrust a sword into the spirit beast's throat which died after three seconds resulting in its spirit ring to float. He looked at Zhao Wuji first before seeing him nodding and then he sat down as he focused on absorbing the spirit ring.
While Oscar was in the midst of absorbing, two people leaped out from the direction the Phoenix Tail Crest Serpent had come flying, appearing before everyone. These two people were a pair of an old and a young woman.
The two looked and saw Oscar who was now meditating and absorbing the spirit beast which made them angry, especially the old woman.
"What's the matter?" Upon seeing the two women, Zhao Wuji stood up while asking and became alert thinking they might have brought trouble.
Hearing Zhao Wuji, the old woman knitted her eyebrows and then looked at him and said, "Fellow spirit master, this spirit beast was hunted by us first unfortunately it escaped. We followed it and came in this direction. But now the spirit was killed by you people. Shouldn't you give any compensation?"
"Compensation, you say. Even if you have the proof that you hunted it first, it was now killed and currently one of my students was absorbing its spirit ring. What can you do about it?" Zhao Wuji knew that these two women really came for trouble. He then steeled himself thinking that a fight might break up and that he needed to protect the children.
"Tsk." The old woman then released her spirit and six spirit rings floated in the old woman's body.
Seeing this, Zhao Wuji felt provoked. He then released his spirit and said, "Only a Spirit Emperor and still have the courage to provoke me."
The old woman and the young one were surprised and pressured as nervousness and fear then printed on their faces after looking at the seven spirit rings around Zhao Wuji as they never would have thought that they would meet such a person in this forest.
Immediately after that, the old woman coughed, making her facial expression soften, "Greetings, respected Spirit Saint, I apologize for my sudden action."
The old woman knew that the other party was stronger than her so she then just moved the young woman close to her in case something might happen since anything could happen in this forest.
Seeing the old woman's change of attitude, Zhao Wuji then recalled his spirit and looked at them. He did not want to start a fight with this old woman as he thought that they may come from a prestigious clan seeing how the two of them bravely came here. He then said, "Well, we were also sorry, but this spirit beast was also suitable for one of my students."
The old woman looked at Oscar and thought that he was younger than her granddaughter. She then looked around and saw several young children and thought that they were probably all geniuses. She then said, "Then, we should also leave to find another suitable spirit beast."
The young woman was angry at first but still followed the old woman as they left the place.
As they leave, Zhao Wuji and the others then find a place and finally relax while waiting for Oscar to completely absorb the spirit ring.
Lev, on the other hand, regretted what he did earlier, 'Tsk, I shouldn't have interfered. I should have waited so that I could learn some skills.'
'Sigh. Let's just let it be since there's no need to rush as the main event has yet to come. I will probably learn all the skills of Zhao Wuji during that time.' Lev, after thinking about what would happen later on, suddenly put on a smile as he waited for the right time.

Waiting and protecting Oscar for how many hours, the color of the sky was already dark and the danger inside the forest had increased greatly at the same time. The group waited without lighting up a fire as it would only harm them while staying in the area.
Amid their waiting, Oscar finally opened his eyes, in a split second, a change suddenly appeared in that pink light covering his body, becoming a beautiful pink, his entire person bathed in this layer of pink light. Three spirit rings then rose from Oscar's body which could only mean that he was now a Spirit Elder.
Seeing the changes, the group then moved closer to Oscar congratulating him on his breakthrough, and then urged Oscar to use his 3rd spirit ability for everyone to see.
Oscar felt ecstatic and boasted to them before using his new spirit ability and then started explaining the effect and use of eating it.
After that, Dai Mubai and the others were greatly surprised to see how good and useful his ability was while Lev, was also happy for a different reason.

After talking to each other for a while, Zhao Wuji said that they would leave immediately when suddenly Tang San interrupted, "Teacher, I also need a spirit ring."
Zhao Wuji and the others were shocked upon hearing Tang San's words. They then asked when he had a breakthrough and Tang San answered all of their questions. Since Tang San also needed a spirit beast, they then decided to rest in the forest and continue finding a suitable spirit beast tomorrow.
With that, the night then passed without incident.

Following their rest, the group continued the process of searching for Spirit Beasts. Only this time the person getting a spirit beast was Tang San however, things turned out contrary to what they expected, no less than two days passed, and even though Zhao Wuji led them to seriously search, they did not find a suitable spirit beast for Tang San.
At nightfall, everyone decided to find a place to rest and build some tents while waiting for tomorrow after a long time of searching but when they were about to sleep for the night, a deep roar could be heard deep inside the forest.
Zhao Wuji directly summoned his spirit, Vigorous Vajra Bear, and in a moment finished Body Enhancement. He then shouted, "Everyone, leave the tents quickly and stand behind me!!!"
After journeying for two days, they already had some kind of understanding of themselves which they then immediately went behind Zhao Wuji and saw what that roar was about as their hairs still continued to stand up even after several seconds had passed.
'Finally.' Lev, on the other hand, had different thoughts from the others as he knew who and what kind of spirit was coming in their direction. It was one of the events that greatly printed on his memory, and he will never forget about it.
In the direction Zhao Wuji was looking, two large trees suddenly slowly parted to either side, and an enormous silhouette noiselessly walked out.
Seeing this big beast, they all seemed to stop breathing, and everyone finally understood what was actually worrying Zhao Wuji.
Tang San, after seeing it, immediately distinguished this big beast's category. He then said, "I-It's actually the forest king, Titan Giant Ape."
"Respected forest king, we did not mean to offend, if this is your territory, we will immediately withdraw." Zhao Wuji said in a low voice. He knew that Titan Giant Ape was capable of understanding human speech and wanted to reason to escape from the place.
However, the Titan Giant Ape did not pay attention to him and moved forward.
"Run quickly!!!!" Zhao Wuji shouted. He decides to leave behind and make time for Tang San's group to leave which he then uses several spirit abilities to confront the Titan Giant Ape.
Lev, meanwhile, doesn't plan on leaving and looks at their fight with a faint smile on his face. Aside from wanting to copy Zhao Wuji's skills, he also wanted to see the Titan Giant Ape since it would be his first time seeing a 100,000-year-old spirit beast. Unlike everyone, excitement filled his heart as the place started getting wrecked by shockwaves coming from their fight.

"What are you still doing there? Runnnnnnnn!!!!!" Zhao Wuji shouted with all his might while receiving the attacks of the Titan Giant Ape. He was very angry upon seeing Tang San and the rest still didn't leave the place and still had time to watch them.
This time, Tang San and others woke up and then finally moved to escape whereas Xiao Wu and Lev were left behind.
Knowing everyone leaving, Lev then looked at Xiao Wu as his mind started running with many ideas. He thought, 'Should I convince her again? Or should I use the ability of my soul bone and suppress this beast? I don't know if it would work as Dugu Bo might be the only exception but still, nothing will be lost if I try, right?'
"What are you going to do now, Xiao Wu?" Lev then just sighed and looked back at the Titan Giant Ape. Though he wanted to test the limit of his soul bone, he felt like today was still not the right time since doing so would only make a particular being deep inside the forest to take notice of him. He decided that he would only do so after his strength reached a high level.
Hearing Lev, Xiao Wu stiffened as she looked at him, but she did not reply.
"I know the reason why this spirit beast was doing here. When you look at it, because of you, teacher Zhao Wuji was now in a miserable state and the others were now running for their lives to live." Lev then followed and looked at the desperate Zhao Wuji. Though he discarded the idea of showing his ability, he thought that since he had already gone this far, he might as well convince Xiao Wu again.
Xiao Wu, on the other hand, just stared at Lev with her eyes started to get wet. Just like him, she also knew that all of this happened because of her since she knew the identity of the Titan Giant Ape.
Meanwhile, while the others were running for their lives, Tang San suddenly noticed the absence of Xiao Wu. He stopped halfway and then looked back and there he saw Xiao Wu and Lev still not moving in their position.
Tang San rushed back to get Xiao Wu, but Xiao Wu suddenly shouted, "Er Ming, stop!!"
Hearing Xiao Wu's voice, Dai Mubai, and the others also stopped as they looked back wanting to know what was happening.
The Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming, who heard Xiao Wu's call, punched Zhao Wuji hard and then looked in her direction as he grabbed her and put her on his shoulder.
"Everyone, I-I'm so sorry. I-I a-am sorry for hiding this from you all but I-I am actually a spirit beast and Er Ming is my best friend. I n-never would have thought that after sensing my aura, he would come here to see me." Xiao Wu said with her tears falling down. Recalling all of Lev's words, she then just looked down and saw Tang San looking at her.
"Brother San, I just wanted to tell you that living with you was the greatest years of my life, but my presence will only cause trouble on the way. I-I hope to see you all again. Once again, I'm s-sorry." Xiao Wu lastly said while her tears continued to fall thinking that her life living as a human would now completely end on this night since she could not anymore stay in them from the very fact that she's a precious 100,000 spirit beast who took the form of a human.
With that, Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape, then roared for the last time before leaving.
Meanwhile, Dai Mubai and the others were completely shocked after knowing that Xiao Wu was actually a spirit beast. They knew what it meant for a spirit beast to take the form of a human and to think that they were living with one completely surprised them.
On the other hand, Tang San cried and shouted Xiao Wu's name repeatedly. He has known for how long already that Xiao Wu wasn't human, but he accepted it like it was nothing. Thinking back on all the memories they have shared together, a sudden hatred blooms inside him as he rushes forward to Lev while using his hidden weapons.
Lev, who anticipated such a thing, easily evaded and moved a distance as he looked at Tang San with a frown. Though he knew that they weren't on the good side, seeing him seriously trying to kill him greatly surprised him.
Seeing things happen so fast, Dai Mubai and the others were completely shocked not understanding why Tang San would do such a thing now.
"Tang San, what are you doing!!??" Dai Mubai immediately went forward to stop Tang San, but Tang San continued to dash forward in anger and attack Lev once again.
Lev looked clearly at Tang San and saw him serious about it which he could only click his tongue and then used a spirit ability, "Spirit Ability: Bind."
With the activation of the skill, Countless Blue Silver Grass vines then wrapped Tang San making not just Tang San itself but everyone after seeing Lev using another spirit ability. Their mind was completely in chaos as they were thinking about how he could do such a thing.
"Spirit Ability: Parasite." Lev didn't stop there as he used another spirit ability to support the first one. He never thought about it before, but he was curious about what would happen if he would beat Tang San, the protagonist of this world, which he plans on doing right now.
Tang San who still could not properly understand what was happening was caught off guard and was immobilized by the countless blue silver grass around his body. Thinking that he was in a pinch, he then started to struggle to get out.
After immobilizing, Lev looked at Tang San with a faint smile as he then used another two spirit abilities to finish it. He was smiling with anticipation as to know what the world would do seeing that the Destiny's Child would be dead soon.
"Spirit Ability: Phoenix Fire Wire."
"Spirit Ability: White Tiger Intense Light Wave."
Following the activation of the skill, two spirit abilities then were released coming from Lev's right and left hand for which an intense light and a straight-line flame were coming towards Tang San's direction.
On the other hand, Tang San who saw Lev's familiar attack was already thinking about his end as his body already lost the ability to move and dodge the incoming disaster.
