As the dinner went on, Rose heard Christopher describe his contingency plan in the event Magnus acted against Rose. He refused to allow the man to reenter her life and cause her harm.
Since the third course had begun, the servant had topped up the ladies' wineglass for the fourth time. Rose drank the wine in one gulp and asked for more.
The trio at the end of the table were so engrossed in their conversation that they had not noticed what she was up to. Christopher had not deemed it necessary to move her beside him like she had wanted. She was now listless and entertained herself while drinking the four bottles of high-quality Bordeaux that had been retrieved from the cellar.
Rose felt a sudden wave of lightheadedness. Her vision becoming blurred and fuzzy. A pleasant sensation engulfed her chest as she felt a warmth radiating inside her body. It had been a while since she had indulged in a night of drinking and the feeling was quite pleasurable.
I think Rose is a bit tipsy.
