I took a deep breath. There was no point in getting provoked here, as that would essentially defeat the purpose of this whole thing.

"Yes, I suppose calling that rumors was not an apt description. Regardless, as things are, it is clear I cannot support my family as a noble befitting of my position. Instead of seeking a hopeless end, I've decided to branch out. Perhaps it is shameful, but I wish to be of use if that is a must."

Cedric tilted his head to the side ever so slightly.

"And for what reason should I help a noble that cannot upkeep their family's honor?"
