บท 281: An Unexpected Gift

When the prince and Ebari were no longer present, Varya motioned for Galen to sit closer to her so she could talk to him. Something was clearly amiss.

It was obvious to her that he was upset about the outcome of the evening. It probably wasn't in their plans for Ebari to get unbelievably drunk. 

Galen moved easily and sat next to Varya. His eyes didn't go to her and he scanned the room, causing himself to remain aloof even from his friend. 

"Is something the matter between you and Ebari?" she asked. "I don't know what else could cause him to act like that."

Galen sighed and eyes moved downcast. 

"You'd have to ask him," he said. "I don't know what's been going on with him." 

Varya glanced around the room. Most people seemed well-occupied so she felt it was okay to sit and talk to her friend.
