บท 49: Worlds Apart

After the news of Varya in a brothel broke to Basileus, he became colder and more unforgiving. If he hadn't chosen to be cold, he would have been consumed by the yearning he felt for Varya and succumbed to emotions that wouldn't be sustainable for his rank.

Despite his internal struggle, his subordinates were none the wiser. His performance as an active general was unbelievable considering his age and experience. While many feared his coldness, even more, admired his skill. Young soldiers aspired to be as disciplined and powerful as he was.

Rumors were spreading about his aura abilities. Only a few had witnessed them firsthand because he refused to train around others. His emotions were too unpredictable and easy to read when he was controlling his fire aura.
