I Will Eventually Embark on the Path of No Return Called a Hero [Arc2] - 10. Feels Like... a Misunderstanding!
---
"Ugh... Is there only one Red Faction Servant?"
At night, Jeanne observed a three-dimensional map of the city drawn with holy water, a skill Ruler possessed for locating all the Servants. The awkward part was that only one Red Faction Servant was in this city; the rest were in a neighboring city, and one was missing from the Black Faction.
But that was inevitable since Trifas was entirely Black Faction's territory. No matter how bold the Red Faction was, they couldn't make this place their base.
But what's with that lone Red Faction Servant?
At that moment, the Black Faction Servants, stationed at the castle, swarmed out and started heading towards the forest, evidently planning to intercept the Red Faction Servant daring to venture into enemy territory alone.
"The number of Red Faction Servants has become three... Hmm?" Jeanne's eyes widened as a third color appeared on the map, a pure white figure moving quickly between the two Red Faction Servants, soon to meet the lone Red Faction Servant ahead.
"A White Faction? Is this the anomaly that requires Ruler's intervention?" Jeanne nodded, "I must go and see!"
"Feels like... someone is watching us..."
As Cyd advanced towards Berserker, he squinted his eyes.
Achilles and Atalanta, whose eyes were locked on Cyd's back, glanced at each other and spoke in unison.
"No idea!"
"It's you two, isn't it," Cyd twitched at the corner of his mouth.
"Boom----"
A massive noise came from ahead, accompanied by strange laughter.
"Ah~ found you, naughty child," Cyd jumped onto a branch, crossing his arms as he looked down at Berserker, who was causing chaos.
The man was nothing but muscles---
No other descriptive words were needed.
The legendary gladiator who led a slave rebellion - Spartacus.
"Dolls under oppression! I will liberate you now!" Spartacus, with a chilling smile, shattered all the attacking puppets.
"This guy doesn't plan to dodge at all," Atalanta landed beside Cyd, "Even if he could avoid the attacks, he chooses to take them head-on."
"Because he's a Berserker," Achilles shrugged, "I don't think we can stop him. Even if we bring him back once, he'll escape again. Better to let him be a distraction and blow up here."
"No, he'll likely be captured by the enemy before he blows up," Cyd sighed and jumped down from the tree branch, "You guys can act freely now, don't mind me."
"Okay!"
"Why do you listen to him so much?" Atalanta was puzzled.
"Well~ I grew up listening to his stories," Achilles gazed at Cyd's pure white silhouette approaching Spartacus, "Both my mother and father always spoke of a great hero who abandoned his desired life to face an ethereal crisis in Tartarus."
"Yes, he is a great hero, but to me, he's just..." Atalanta fell silent.
"An irresponsible husband?" Achilles teased with a cheeky grin, moving closer to Atalanta.
A vein bulged on Atalanta's forehead, and she kicked Achilles off the tree with a single blow.
"Do that again, and I'll kill you!"
"Got it, big sister! I'm going for a walk!" Achilles retreated with an expression indicating he wouldn't remember the lesson.
"Seriously..." Atalanta pursed her lips, summoning her Celestial Bow and aiming at Spartacus, ready to shoot him through the knee if he made any move against Cyd.
"Hey! Red Faction Berserker, can you hear me?" Cyd asked, patting Spartacus on the shoulder while dodging puppet debris, prepared for a punch from Spartacus.
"Ah! Of course, I can hear you! My ally!" Surprisingly, instead of punching, Spartacus extended his muscular arm to shield Cyd from a puppet attack, "Let's rebel together! I will be your shield! Let's advance towards freedom!"
"Though I don't understand a word, I'm moved!" Cyd's eyes widened.
"Eh!!! There are two of you! That's not what I was told!" At that moment, a pink-haired figure peeked out from the puppets.
"No... I am..."
Cyd started to explain but was pulled behind Spartacus.
"Oppressor!" Spartacus roared, uprooting a large tree and swinging it at the pink-haired figure.
"Whoa! That's dangerous!" The pink-haired figure dodged the tree, but the surrounding puppets weren't as quick and were smashed to bits.
"Come, oppressor! Attack me!" Spartacus, with a bizarre smile, crushed the approaching puppets like a mole game, "And be crushed by me!"
"Wait! I am Astolfo, one of Charlemagne's Twelve Paladins! Come on, let me properly introduce—uh! At least let me finish my introduction!" Astolfo, tears in his eyes, dodged Spartacus's heavy attack, pulling out a long spear.
"You are an oppressor!" Spartacus roared, grabbing a puppet and smashing it towards Astolfo.
"Ah~ in that case, no choice!" Astolfo gripped his spear with both hands, aiming at Spartacus, "Show them your might, Argalia!"
Spartacus's eyes gleamed with excitement. Even though a weapon was aimed at him, and he could dodge, he eagerly anticipated the spear piercing his body, expecting to crush the oppressor.
"---Trap of Argalia!"
Astolfo charged at Spartacus like an arrow.
"Oppressor!"
"Bang----"
Spartacus lost his balance and fell hard. His leg was gone.
"Ah~ my Noble Phantasm isn't anything extraordinary. It only makes people fall," Astolfo waved, and the surrounding puppets swarmed over, swallowing Spartacus.
"Next~ it's your turn! You look like someone I can talk to, so how about going back obediently," Astolfo smiled brightly, aiming his spear at Cyd.
"Comrade, leave quickly!" Spartacus roared, extending his hand, but was quickly overwhelmed by more puppets.
"Ah~ I just found a reason I can't leave," Cyd stroked his chin.
"I knew it. You don't look like someone who'd abandon a comrade. For that, I, Astolfo, will deliver a respectful strike," Astolfo lowered his body, aiming his spear at Cyd.
"Ah~ you guys say..."
"----Trap of Argalia!"
Like before, Astolfo charged at Cyd like a flying arrow.
Which way will he dodge?
Astolfo narrowed his eyes. With his Noble Phantasm's ability exposed, any rational Servant wouldn't let his spear touch... Hey! Are you really not dodging?
"Clang----"
"A Noble Phantasm that forces the legs to spiritualize," Cyd grasped the spear and nodded, "An interesting Noble Phantasm."
"No way..." Astolfo stared dumbfounded at Cyd's draconic hand gripping his spear, "Ah! No... this is bad!"
"Rider, dodge!" A commanding voice echoed, and instinctively, Astolfo let go of his spear and flipped backward. Instantly, numerous black stakes pinned Cyd mid-air.
"Kazikli Bey," Vlad III, mounted on a horse-shaped puppet, coldly observed Cyd, "All intruders in my territory meet this fate."
"I'm not an intruder," Cyd sighed, lying on the stakes.
But more stakes rained down, pinning him from mid-air into the ground.
"Why were you just watching over there!" Cyd sat up, looking aggrieved at Atalanta, hiding in the trees.
"Aren't you the Ruler? Helping you would be cheating, and..." Atalanta smiled slightly, "In this world, nothing can harm you, right? My... prey (husband)."
