"Scared of whom?" Jennet asked him softly. Her heart was overwhelmed by maternal instincts, to pamper and protect him from all sorts of danger.

The 'pitiful' boy pointed at Hue. "I'm scared of daddy. He is a bully," he said.

Jennet glared daggers at her husband and the husband, on the other hand, was gritting his teeth for the slander that his Beacon threw at him.

Jennet crouched down and said to the boy, "My dear, just ignore him. By the way, what is your name? I am Jennet Lockhart."

Little Veen tugged on the hem of his shirt as he replied meekly, "I am Veen. Veen Hedo." Then, he smiled.

Jennet bit her inner lip, stopping herself from squealing again. The boy's adorableness had filled her heart to the brim, and she was basking in anticipation.

Suddenly, she hugged the boy and exclaimed excitedly. "Ahh, you're so cute!"

Her tension had disappeared into pieces. She no longer remembered the traumatic meeting with Elaine.
