บท 142: Hell of a Workout (4)

Johan jumped in shock. His frightened eyes stared at Karl. It seemed that some adults had been rude to the boy. What was wrong with children who were not born to nobility? They never chose to be born that way. 

"It's okay, he's not a bad person!" Cyril said reassuringly to Johan. "Your face is scary, Sir Karl!" 

Karl made an extremely offended face. "This is the most beautiful face in Fort Varden, don't make fun of me like that! He's just stunned by my invisible good looks!" Karl said with great confidence. 

Cyril gaped. He turned to the sitting Johan and gaped as well. But there was no longer any fear on the boy's face. It seemed that Karl's confident speech had removed all tension from the boy's face. 

The food arrived shortly after Karl's laughter ended. The mercenaries who had been sitting with Karl left after paying. Then Karl sat down at Cyril's table and joined the meal. 

"Why did you join us here?" asked Cyril irritably.
