บท 821: Educational Decree Number 23

Ivan pushed through the crowd and soon found Professor Trelawney standing in the middle of the foyer.

She was holding a wand in one hand and some divination tools in the other. Her eyes were filled with tears, her hair was messy, and her glasses were crooked. She looked extremely pathetic.

Umbridge, standing in the entrance hall, threw two battered suitcases at Trelawney.

'You… you can't!' Professor Trelawney screamed at Umbridge, tears welling up behind her spectacles. 'You can't sack me! I've been here for sixteen years! H-Hogwarts is my… my home!'

'It was… it was your home, but it never will be again!' Umbridge said haughtily, her toad-like face breaking into a wide smile as she watched Trelawney collapse onto a suitcase and cry.

"Get out of here. You'll only embarrass us if you stay, Trelawney! The Ministry has signed the order to sack you. Now, please leave this castle…"

Seeing Trelawney's reluctance to leave, Umbridge reached impatiently for Trelawney's sleeve, intending to pull her out of the hall.

There was sympathy on the faces of the observing wizards.

The professors looked at Umbridge with increasing hostility…

Even though not many people liked to curse Trelawney, who died on the spot, the sight of Trelawney being forcibly driven away filled the house with grief.

Ivan looks around for Dumbledore, who should not be disappearing for no reason, now that the professors have been expelled.

Ivan, however, could not find the white-bearded figure in the crowd.

Ivan frowned and took a few steps back in an attempt to use his Boggart Transformation. He did not want to see Trelawney thrown out of Hogwarts because of him.

Suddenly, a voice called out to them.

"Wait … Trelawney should never have left Hogwarts!"

Trelawney stopped in her tracks as Umbridge turned around to see who had disturbed her interest, and a stern-faced Professor McGonagall pushed her way through the crowd.

She went straight to Professor Trelawney, patted her gently on the back, pulled a handkerchief out of her robe, and sighed. "All right, Sybill … calm down … blow your nose … it's not as bad as you think …"

'Is that so, Professor McGonagall?' Umbridge sneered. 'I need to remind you… that by my own and the Minister for Magic's Order of Fire, which is Educational Decree Number Twenty-Three! Hogwarts High Inquisitor… that is, me! The right to inspect, keep and discharge any teacher who does not meet Ministry standards!'

Professor McGonagall raised her eyebrows and said, "Yes, by the book, Trelawney is no longer a professor…"

"In that case, you should understand—" Umbridge began at the top of her voice, but was interrupted by McGonagall.

"You have the Ministry's authority to fire the professor, yes, but you have no right to banish her from this castle, do you?"

Professor McGonagall looked back at Trelawney, who was still sobbing, and said firmly, "Trelawney may no longer be a professor, but she can still be a guest of the Headmaster and has the right to remain in this castle!"

Umbridge's face fell and she hissed, "This is Dumbledore's idea? Why didn't he come out to see me himself?"

Professor McGonagall stepped in front of Trelawney and replied forcefully, "In the absence of Headmaster Dumbledore, I am acting Headmaster, in full charge of Hogwarts' internal affairs!"

'Acting Headmistress? I'm afraid that's not approved by the Ministry of Magic, is it?' Umbridge looked at him darkly.

"According to the regulations, the acting Headmaster only needs to be approved by the Headmaster himself!" Professor McGonagall retorted.

'Good, very good! Just you wait, the Ministry won't let you get away with this!' Umbridge said through gritted teeth, and then, as if she had just remembered something, she continued happily.

"And then there is Headmaster Dumbledore. I have tried to reach him many times, but he has never been in this school, which is a grave dereliction of duty, and I believe the motion to impeach him is on Minister Fudge's desk…"

Professor McGonagall did not take Umbridge's threats to heart, and responded mildly, 'That is for later, at least for now you have no right to banish Trelawney!'

Umbridge gave McGonagall an angry look and stormed off.

A round of applause broke out in the Great Hall, and the assembled wizards looked at Professor McGonagall with admiration and admiration.

These days, Umbridge's behaviour at school caused a lot of trouble and anger, and everyone was naturally happy to see her suffer!

Ivan was also applauding, as Umbridge was more capable than he had expected, having caused the Ministry to lose its morale in just two months.

Even the lecturers were fed up with Umbridge, so some of his plans could now be put into action.

However, before that, he had to go to the Headmaster's office to check on some things!

Neither Umbridge nor the Ministry of Magic ever caught Ivan's eye, and it was easy enough to toy with Fudge, as he was only concerned about Dumbledore and Voldemort's movements…

After dealing with Umbridge, Professor McGonagall waved her wand and cast a Levitation Charm on the suitcases, then dragged a sobbing Trelawney upstairs.

The crowd in the Great Hall soon dispersed, and as they made their way back to the common room, the wizards were still gossiping about McGonagall and Umbridge's argument.

'Professor McGonagall was so handsome, someone should have sorted Umbridge out long ago!' Ron exclaimed, thinking back to Umbridge's angry and resigned expression.

Harry nodded in agreement, as Professor McGonagall had avenged them.

Hermione was less optimistic than the other two, thinking about what Umbridge had said before she left, about the Ministry's intention to impeach Dumbledore and remove him from Hogwarts.

If the Ministry of Magic did this, they would face the worst possible outcome.

With this thought in mind, Hermione became worried and immediately tried to discuss a solution with Ivan, but when she turned around, Ivan had already disappeared…

… .

At the same time, on the top floor of the castle, in front of the Headmaster's office, Ivan was trying to get a password from the statue.

"Sizzle Bee Honey~"

"A cockroach pile ~"

"Crying! Scum ~ Twisting?"

… .

Just as he said "Pumpkin Juice", the statue began to shake and slowly rise up, opening up an entrance.

The Headmaster's office was empty, even Fox was nowhere to be seen. He could just make out the papers and envelopes strewn across the desk.

After a casual glance around the Headmaster's office, Ivan's gaze lingered on two of the items for a moment before turning to the portraits of the Headmaster that were hung on the walls.

"Good afternoon, Headmasters. Do you know where the current Headmaster, Dumbledore, has been lately? I have something important to discuss with him…"

Ivan's voice echoed in the sealed Headmaster's Office, and dozens of headmasters on the walls turned to look at him. They stared at him curiously but said nothing, except for the portrait lady who was watching him kindly.

"We don't know where Headmaster Dumbledore went. He did come back a few times this term, but he always left soon after…"
