บท 471: Training Before the Competition

Ivan gave Ron an odd look, as if he had a strange way of seeing things.

Harry did consider it, as his Cloak of Invisibility had two sides, one silver-grey in colour, like a flowing fabric, and the other permanently enchanted.

It is possible for such a state of affairs to occur with the other side facing up.

However, after searching the dormitory, Harry and Ron found nothing…

Ivan looked at them as if they were retarded,

Concerned that it was indeed a precious Deathly Hallows, Ivan asked patiently, "Harry, do you remember where you dropped it? Think about when you last confirmed it."

"Um… it could have fallen at the Three Broomsticks!" Harry hesitated, thinking it was the most likely possibility, having been there so long.

"Then let's go and find out. The Three Broomsticks shouldn't be closed at this hour!" Ivan suggested.

Harry gave a quick nod.

The trio slipped out of the castle and back into Hogsmeade through the secret passageway. They were relieved to see the brightly lit pub.

Harry eagerly searched for where he had been, but found nothing.

The owner of the pub, Madam Rosmerta, noticed their odd behaviour and approached them.

"What are you doing? Did you drop something?"

Madam Rosmerta immediately guessed the predicament they were in. After all, many alcoholics in the pub tended to lose things when they had too much to drink, and they often returned the next day looking for it, so she was used to it…

"Yes, ma'am! I've lost my cloak!" Harry was very anxious, and he looked at Madam Rosmerta with hope in his voice.

Madam Rosmerta was a little surprised. The Cloak of Invisibility was a very valuable magical object, sometimes selling for over a hundred Galleons. It could be said that since her opening, her customers had lost the most valuable object they had ever owned.

Madam Rosmerta shook her head at Harry's expected look.

"I am sorry, child, but I did not see your Cloak of Invisibility, and no one has found it and brought it to me," Madam Rosmerta continued with a sigh.

"But are you sure it's here? Could it have fallen somewhere else? After you left, I tidied up your table and found nothing…"

There is, of course, the possibility that Madam Rosmerta did not mention it, that the Invisibility Cloak was taken by another customer…

It was, after all, a valuable magical object, and if it were to fall on a seat and be seen, there was a good chance it would be stolen.

Harry was close to tears. His father had left him the Cloak of Invisibility, and it had helped him a lot over the years.

Madam Rosmerta had no choice but to suggest that Harry should inform the Ministry of Magic so that the Aurors could help with the search.

Though the chances of finding it are slim…

Eventually, Harry walked out of the Three Broomsticks in despair, thinking that he might lose this magical object forever.

"Why don't we try the Ministry again? We've been to both of them today…" Ron suggested.

"Yes, and the Ministry!" Harry's spirits were uplifted and his hopes were rekindled.

Yvonne hurried to stop Harry and Ron from trying to kill themselves, as the Ministry staff were long gone at this hour, and it would be a serious offence to trespass.

"Also, if we report this to the Ministry of Magic, they might not take it seriously. Why don't we tell Professor Dumbledore about losing the Invisibility Cloak and let him negotiate with the Ministry?"

Ivan had the presence of mind to carry out his analysis. The Ministry of Magic was not a place one could enter without an invitation.

Who knows how long this will take …

What's more, Harry's Invisibility Cloak was so unique that what if the Ministry picked it up and decided not to return it? Dumbledore would be better off wrangling with the Ministry.

When Ivan finished speaking, Harry hesitated.

Due to the argument in the afternoon, he was reluctant to meet with Professor Dumbledore, and the Invisibility Cloak was given to him by Professor Dumbledore, but he had lost it…

"Do you think pride is more important, or the Cloak of Invisibility?" asked Ivan, seeing Harry's struggle.

"The Cloak of Invisibility, of course!" Harry decided, gritting his teeth.

However, considering how late it was and how Dumbledore had probably gone to bed, Harry did not want to disturb him, and instead waited until the morning classes were over before heading to the Headmaster's office alone.

"Well? What did Professor Dumbledore tell you? Did he yell at you?" Ron asked as Harry left the Headmaster's office.

"No, it's not… the professor just said he'd find it for me, so I don't have to worry too much." Harry seemed a little out of sorts.

Harry would much rather have been scolded by Professor Dumbledore than treated in such a bland manner, perhaps making him feel better.

Ivan frowned when he heard this, finding it strange.

Harry's Cloak of Invisibility is not one of those cheap things they sell on the market, but a Deathly Hallows!

What Dumbledore has been after for most of his life!

Now that Harry had lost it, the old professor hadn't even reprimanded him?

Yvonne was confused. Had Dumbledore, after years of research, discovered that the so-called Deathly Hallows were just for show, and that losing them was no big deal?

Unable to come to terms with the situation, Ivan had to give up. If Dumbledore couldn't be found, then the three of them couldn't…

In the afternoon, after a long day of lessons, Ivan and Harry went to the Quidditch pitch for the final Quidditch practice.

It is worth mentioning that when Wood saw Ivan on the training ground, his excitement was written all over his face. He patted Ivan's shoulder excitedly, and all the words he wanted to say came out in one sentence.

"Welcome back to the team… Halus!"
