"When did you decide this?" Mauve asked as Jael closed the door to his bedroom, barely able to hide her excitement. "Why didn't you tell me?" She wasn't angry about this in the slightest. She absolutely adored the surprise.

"And ruin the surprise?" he asked as he grabbed her waist.

"I just knew you would say that," she laughed.

"Ah, are you saying I am predictable?" he asked.

"What? Of course not. Most times, I am shocked by what you do."

Jael's brows furrowed. "I can't tell if that is a good thing or not," he replied.

Mauve laughed and stood on her tiptoes, and Jael understood immediately, bending his head to give Mauve easy access to his lips. Her lips were soft as they touched his, and Jael let himself soak in it, gently deepening the kiss. By the time she pulled away, Mauve was flushed and her chest was heaving.
