Jael closed the door with a soft thud and turned his attention back to Mauve who was sitting on the bed. She was glaring at him. 

"What?" He asked.

"You could have asked me," she mumbled.

"You are tired," he said and touched her chin.

"Yes, but it would be rude to refuse Lord Levaton's request after he asked for me. Besides, it won't take forever."

"Well, you're not completely declining. You will go for the last meal after you've rested."

"I can always rest after the second meal. Besides, I'll probably be stuck in this room all night."

He dropped his hand from her chin as though she had burnt him. A knock turned their attention to the door. Jael was by the door side in less than two seconds.

He pulled open the door a little forcefully, "What?" He asked harshly.
