The newly captured five-step viper had completed its scientific mission and was then released back into the mountains by Steve. The release site wasn't far from where the snake was captured.

"Be sure to be careful when releasing the snakes, don't get bitten."

Steve also told Feng Yi and the others about his near-miss experience with being bitten during a snake release.

"Every year there are incidents of people getting bitten during releases, regardless of whether the snakes are venomous or not, care must be taken.
