Ruby looked at Lucas in disarray. "Why?"

Lucas finally lifted his head so their eyes could meet. "Because I don't want you to misunderstand Miss Barclay. Therefore, I wanted you to know this secret while you were around me."

"However, I should have told you first before I entered the courtroom." Lucas sighed with guilt. "Is your health okay?"

Ever since Ruby was little, Lucas knew she had a weak body, so he often saw her fall ill. However, Lucas thought that perhaps Ruby's body had improved after the licatio flower neutralized the venenum poison in her body.
