บท 33: Chapter 32 - Learning New Abilities

Around two days had passed since they returned home and honestly nothing much had happened during all this time. She had mainly stayed in her room reading the new book, trying to understand it, while Albus was in his office.

He did mention that in a few days, he would have to return to Hogwarts in order to do some things— and that the new term would be starting soon so he would be busy often.

This was perfect for her as it meant some freedom to do more things— but she had to first figure out how to teleport so she could get out of there.

The book was helpful— albeit complicated. It spoke about ideas and theories alongside ways to do said theories.

It began with the bases of mental magic because increasing the mind was vital to increase the imagination and capabilities to control and create illusions.

So she first had to learn the basics of mental magic before she could delve into the deeper parts of it— and she didn't mind since the basics were really helpful.

The first thing she had to do was clear her mind and build a sanctum in her mind— sorting out her memories, thoughts, and everything else within her mind.

This way her head would always be clear and no stray thought or memory could get by without her being in control of it— granting her increased control over her illusions and abilities.

She spent some time trying to sort it out and build a mind palace as she liked to call it— but she found it surprisingly easy.

Maybe it had to do with her ability to shape the darkness as she pleased, or all the training she had done while locked in the room, but cleaning out her mind and shaping it however she pleased was very easy.

Especially since inside of her was filled with darkness and an infinite expanse of nothing— allowing her to easily shape it as she pleased.

She built a maze— hallways filled with rooms and stairs, twisting and changing constantly so that it was never the same— inspired a little by how Hogwarts stairs worked.

This not only allowed her to sort out and store memories but also defend against anyone or anything that managed to enter her mind somehow— not that it was possible, to begin with.

Traversing the mind wasn't hard for her since it was her mind, she willed it and it would happen.

So, she finished the first step in less than a day.

The second step was a bit more complicated as it involved her forming something called, false memories.

The book spoke about a theory that wizards acted based on instincts. Their bodies and mind would react based on their memories, allowing them to create the spell on the fly by merely uttering words.

So, what would happen if you use that base to try and create illusions based on memories as well?

Well, it would make you able to instantly create any illusions you want as long as you can remember the thing in very great detail— with every detail added, making the illusion more clear.

Sound, scent, taste, feel, everything.

That's when she came up with an idea.

What if she used her darkness inside of herself to create different illusions and store them within her mind— allowing her to will them into reality almost instantly with a thought.

Naturally, this would require a lot of mental comprehension and a clear mind, which was why the first step was vital, but now that it was done, she could give it a try.

So with that idea in mind, she dived into her mind palace in order to create things.

It was much easier to create things inside her than it was to do so outside— but she needed to be very detailed with it if she wanted it to work out well.

She needed to create how it sounds, how it feels, how it looks, how it tastes, the shadow it cast, the space it took up— everything.

She started with something easy, a raven.

She used her very own raven as an example and went from there.

Black feathers, the caw it makes, the scratching it did, the dust that flew from it sometimes when it moved— everything.

She got it as perfect as she could, it took her hours to perfect it, to the point that even she thought it was a real creature she had seen before.

Then she stored it in a fake memory she created within one of the rooms in her mind— a memory that soon came to her mind when she tried to recall it.

A memory of herself seeing this raven flying around her when she was younger.

A memory that wasn't real.

'Perfect.'

She thought to herself as she exited her own mind and looked around her empty room— excited to test it for the first time.

"Come~"

She whispered as her darkness took shape around her, forming the raven before her in a matter of seconds.

It was just like the one from her memory— it was perfect. It even moved like an actual living creature, able to freely fly around and caw like it had life.

A smile decorated her face at her accomplishment.

It was a small feat in the grand scheme of things, and the ability was still rather underdeveloped, but with some polishing, it would become a great ability to use.

It could take her so far if she trained it properly.

Now she had work to do— memories to create.
