Bruce Wayne wasn't angered by this; his expression remained cold, and he responded in an even more detached tone, "I'm just stating the facts. There can only be one tiger ruling a mountain. When another challenger appears, the only outcome is a life-and-death struggle."
As a pessimist, Batman didn't have much faith in the future of the mutant world. In his view, the conflict between mutants and ordinary humans was irreconcilable.
Both sides were fighting over precious living space and resources, and these were not just limited to land, wealth, and food. They also included concepts like freedom, respect, and even equality—these too were part of the resources needed for survival.
Humans can coexist with lions, tigers, and other top predators of the natural world, but that's only because most of the predators' living space and resources have already been seized by humans. Nowadays, humans might set aside certain areas to protect endangered species, but do they offer those animals the same respect they do to themselves?
In the ancient era of early humans, the ancestors of modern humans were truly equal to top predators like saber-toothed tigers and lions. They competed with these predators for survival space and resources. Over countless years, humans defeated one competitor after another, eventually gaining dominion over this beautiful planet.
