บท 171: Chapter 20 Treachery! Part 1
Jocylee stood by the door frame, looking at the marching men with a frown on her face. The time was running out as she understood what her uncle meant. He meant what she should have done in the first place and what she was going to do in the future. Unfortunately, she had already started the wheels and there was no brake this time.
The fate was cruel to those who decided to throw away the precious of life. It already banned her step, pushing her into the abyss that she would never be able to climb up, but that didn't mean she would let it end like this.
She understood that war was inevitable, but she should be able to save people if she sent news to them. Therefore, she set out to find a man. A man who was a leader of the underground of Bastia whom she never bothered to meet since he was a dangerous individual.
A man was playing chip in his hand while throwing coins to the table with amusement. He was playing with the wealthy men who were scared to look at him. They shivered under his sheer pressure and menacing stare that sent chills to their spines. No man would think this man was a former General of Bastia who served as the wolf that hunted their enemies.
The scar on his eyes symbolized his status and his shame throughout his life, making him angry. Every time others looked at his scar, he would beat them up because he didn't forget the moment when he got this. No matter how he hard fought he couldn't scratch his robe despite his incredible strength.
" A guest had arrived. Let her in the table."
He ordered his men to bring Jocylee to the table because he didn't want to waste his time. He took off his sword, looking at the door where she appeared with two men. Her beautiful face gazed at his eye, making him frown with dissatisfaction, but still, he closed his eye.
If they fight here now, the area would be leveled down and he would have to fight against her.
" You look dirty, senior. The old marshal would have knocked you out if he saw you."
She said, sitting down with a serious face. The guests broke out with cold sweat because she was an infamous general who was known for her ruthless method.
She would kill anyone if they stood in her way and soldiers respected her. Therefore, no one dared to challenge her.
" Tsk, don't mention the dead man. I don't care what you are here, but I advise you to leave before things get ugly."
He warned her, showing his cruelty for the first time. Jocylee snorted coldly, throwing a bag of coins to his table along with a pouch of mana stones.
The wealthy men opened their eyes wide, not believing in her wealth. All mana stones were either high or best-grade stones, making them equal to almost the salary of the entire army for a year.
"Quite a hefty amount. What do you need for me?"
He asked, putting down his pride as a warrior. He could tell she would demand something outrageous from him, but the despair in her eyes told him to hold his reins back at least this time.
It was the same eyes when he had met his shame and he didn't want to see this again even though he disliked her stoic attitude.
" Please save the people from my cousin. The country is going to spill countless blood for their queen."
She said calmly, masking her trembling heart inside the falsehood. The man groaned with pain, knowing this wouldn't be enough to pay him.
" You owe me one. As for the young king, I will send him to the underworld if he ever dared to destroy the balance that I shed my blood for."
He spoke lightly, taking the payment. Jocylee closed her eyes for a moment, acknowledging her debt to him as she left the house.
The man signaled his men to move.
" Well, then. I have to tell you were very unlucky."
He said with a smile, taking out his knife from the table. The screams of horror vibrated through the hall, painting the room with red.
