" Chief, here is the material that you have wanted to get. We have found traces of the drugs near this street and somehow it is closely related to the residents of the street."
Corena reported while handing the printed paper with a serious look. She was wearing an official uniform with golden wings on her chest. Her green hair was neatly tied along with her clothes to show her clean side.
Josephine took the report, skimming through the contents with a cold look on her face while thinking about the situation of the slums which was unstable recently. She could guess whose fault was it, but there wasn't solid evidence of her hand. Therefore, it would be troublesome if she moved earlier than the plan, providing the enemy with a chance to slip away from the mud.
" It is useless to assume their move with just papers. You take Mark and investigate this matter thoroughly. By the way, take your weapons with you when leaving the station. You might need it."
She said, leaning back on her chair with a heavy look since things weren't that good. Just a simple thought of the underground made her head crackle with pain and stress because they were already out of her hand. Their connections with upper echelons were making her stop at her pace even though she was one of the elders.
Corena saluted when she saw the mood of the chief was changing to bad. Henceforth, it was a bad idea to stay here, knowing her temper she would probably nag her or scold her for no reason.
She fixed her clothes along the way while putting on her snow-white gloves to get into working mode. As one of the high-ranking officers, her efficiency was no joke in the force, getting the name of the ' Devil from Hell '. Her ability to search and investigate was so advanced that even the criminals feared her when they faced her.
" Ah, it is an orchid. Where are we going this time?"
A frail man with glass said, holding his book tightly in his chest. One would think he was a harmless person, but Corena knew he was a mad hound that would chase his target to the end. He was a madman who was obsessed with detective work and cruel torture methods due to his twisted childhood. His physical strength was enough to crush the hard skull of the monsters with ease.
" To the slums. We have a job to do. Drug busting, I think."
She spoke, observing the face of her partner with a slight worry. She gulped when she saw her partner's eyes were getting excited about the new job because he was tasked a long time ago. Thus, he was eager to fill the void in his heart and mind while saving the day like usual. Moreover, he was ready to try his new weapons and methods on the bad guys.
" Oh, are we allowed to take our weapons with us?"
He spoke, licking his lips with excitement in his voice. The itch on his skin was getting stronger as he was trying to hold it back with his trademark smile.
Corena facepalmed herself with distress, knowing the budget would probably go through roof again and her promotion would be delayed once again, but she didn't mind it. The problem and answer were the two sides of the same coin. As long as she can reduce the rampage, she might even get a bonus.
" No, bombs or explosives. I don't want an explosion in the slums. You remember the last figures in your debt due, right?"
Corena sighed, showing his debt statement in front of his face. Mark clicked his tongue while taking the statement with a grumpy look, tolerating the bad temper of this woman.
He shrugged his shoulders, pointing to the young man who was standing behind her.
" And he is?"
He asked, guessing the identity of this boy who was nervous and looking at him with anxiety because he heard this frail man was the infamous hound, all of his soul had left his body.
" An intern. He will go with us. Don't be harsh on him, he is from the upper."
Corena said, warning him to be lenient on him. Mark groaned when he heard this, but it was worth trading for a job in these hard days. Who knows when he would go out for a job again.
