Somewhere in the fortress…
Hendrick Windsor is the strongest person in the whole fortress. His body was huge enough to be mistaken as an orc. His muscles and scars were intimidating enough to scare any enemies from himself.
Hendrick was reading a report carefully. From time to time, he let slight laughter and his eyes were full of love. He looked at the picture, which wasn't far out of his reach. It was a picture of four with 2 children and a beautiful couple.
Hendrick was smiling while hugging his children and his wife standing next to him with a smile. She was a beautiful woman with blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. As for the boy, he had black hair and blue eyes. His eyes were full of willfulness and energy. Lastly, the girl was splitting image of her mother. One could say she was a beauty.
Hendrick put down his report and sipped his coffee. He gazed outside the window and saw bustling people with happy expressions. This cured his tiredness and lifted his spirit up.
" Hoo, that girl did it. She is like her mother."
Knock, knock*
Suddenly, his door was knocked. Hendrick raised his head and allowed that person to enter. It was Colonel. He was looking expressionless like always.
Hendrick raised his eyebrows and acted like he didn't know the result.
" So, how was the exam? Have you found any suitable candidates, Ares?"
Ares didn't try to hide. Perhaps he already guessed that Hendrick had report about this exam. His eyes slightly darted around the room.
" Yes, I have found 5 suitable candidates for our army. Army commander will receive my report tomorrow."
Hendrick didn't fully know about other candidates, except for his daughter. Hence, he raised his tone and gazed at him with a serious look.
" Ares, can you show their resumes? I haven't inspected their identities yet."
Ares took out four documents. He placed it on Hendrick's table and walked out of the room without hesitation.
Hendrick rubbed his temple with distress. He liked his honesty, but he didn't like about his attitude.
He opened the first folder and saw a burly man with tanned skin. His main was a great sword, and he looked like a man with great physical strength.
" Hmm, Daemon Crowns. Interesting, his strength might rival my son's strength. I should keep eyes on him."
Then, he opened the second folder. It was a girl with red hair. She was wearing tight leather clothes. However, her eyes were sharp like a hawk's.
" Agility type girl. Fascinating, she would be a good material for Dark Guard. Leah Iverson, huu."
After that he opened a third file. It was a man with a pale face. He was holding a black ivory bow. This bow was big enough to be called as a great bow.
" Mihail Verskin. A man with great eyesight. Hmm, he would be a formidable master if he attains that level."
Actually, a bow master or a gun master can destroy an army like a great mage. Their abilities are devastating enough to change the topography. Their charged attacks and area attacks were headache to the sword master and the great mage.
Lastly, he opened Licht's file. His face immediately changed when he saw his surname.
Haa*
He leaned on his chair. He silently turned around and gazed outside while saying nothing. However, his eyes were filled with nostalgia and regret.
" Edmond's son. This is bad. They will definitely try to recruit him or even worse he will be used. Those knights bastards are the worst."
He immediately pulled out his stamp and stamped on his folder to accept his resume to join the army. Furthermore, he stamped on all files and wrote a note on top it.
" Ted!"
It was Ted. He was wearing his iconic guide clothes. Even so, Hendrick didn't mind because he appreciated his talent. He knew Ted needed money.
" I have an assignment for you. Find Ares and pass these files along with this note. You must deliver it to him. Don't let others see this! Especially, knight captains aren't allowed to see it."
Ted nodded with a serious expression. He understood why Hendrick was acting this way. It is because he hated their behaviors. He hated them because they were greedy.
