บท 14: New ideas
With a place to stay, Blush was able to gain free time to practice making medicines and poisons with the ingredients that she had bought as she was making herbal powder mixtures that could be readily added to water for the patients to consume and so on.
Some additional creamy textured herbal mixes had been made with safer and beneficial herbs for products that could be used for skin care and other things.
Due to her contributions within the Blacksmith, the price of her sword was reduced and she was able to find a place to gain experience and be paid for it.
When she appeared near the forge, she had to be wary of her clothing so she started thinking of ways to keep her appearance from others and not let it affect her work too much.
She had found an earflap hat that hid her ears within and was not flammable so she was happy with her purchase and she had bought long sleeved light clothing while she had purchased long gloves and leggings to go underneath her clothing.
In places that were more exposed, she had applied a herbal mixture that had been made as a means to disguise herself without using magic.
When applied, her pastel pink skin became much lighter like human skin and the herbs used were very beneficial for her skin so it was an added bonus.
The only thing that was a minor giveaway about her race was her red eyes but the hat had a cap part on the front that could be tilted downward to stop people looking directly into her eyes but that was only if it was someone that would possibly find her suspicious.
In the end, she could just expose her identity as a half breed who had been abandoned because her body was too human and unsuited to their own goals so she could gain sympathy that way.
The main problem that she had run into at the forge was the large amount of heat and the effects it had on the layer of herbal mixture on her skin.
Through a little experimentation with her mana layer training as she spreads a thin layer of mana around her body to protect herself and practice her control and efficiency, she was able to find that it helped to protect her and the herbal mixture from being damaged or ruined but also helped to temper her mana further with the heat from the forges.
Due to using the layer of mana around her body along with the mana observation spell, the usage of her mana was much greater so her time spent forging was not that long at the beginning.
With her efforts to increase her control, efficiency and the purity of her mana, when she had restored her mana through meditation, she had noticed significant growth so she started to use that method often.
Practicing with the alchemy cauldron was also a difficult task at first as she was learning to control the heat within the cauldron and effectively form a pill or medicinal liquid but she had started to manipulate her mana to help with controlling the flame inside and ensuring that the ingredients inside are not ruined.
Her talents lied in observing the details many missed so she was able to see the flaws in her technique from her experience as a chemist.
Blush sat in front of the cauldron with a look of concentration on her face as her eyes were closed, she was sat in place as the herbs were being heated then another herb was added followed by another.
While the observation spell was active, she had controlled her mana to make the flame spread out a little to allow the heat to not be focussed in one point.
Wisps of mana had wrapped around the mixture inside and formed a vortex as it had mixed and bonded according to her design, once the mixture was complete and the final stages were about to begin, she had controlled the heat and split up the remains with her mana.
The mana had worked quickly to form several pills within the cauldron from each of the split up remains as they had been shaped or moulded by the mana and held in place within the cauldron.
At the right moment when the pill had formed, the heat had been adjusted to allow them to then become a small and solid circular pill.
The smell of the herbs was spread through the room and when she opened the lid, there was a bigger release of heat and a strong scent of medicine and herbs.
Inside were five round and beautiful looking pills that had a nice scent to them then there was a small area where the black dregs, burnt pieces of the herbal mixture and failures had been placed separated.
She looked at the pills and took them out carefully with her mana to avoid burning herself and she inspected the pills. "They look excellent just like this but I wonder what effects mana would have on the pills if I was able to master forming a perfect vortex effect during the best time to form the pills. In martial arts novels that have alchemy, there are many spiritual alchemy methods that use a similar way to form the pills. Could it possibly help mana bond with the pills if that method is used? If so.l then what about forging? When the heat is increased and during the tempering or folding processes.. if mana was applied to the hammer then would the mana bond with the metals too? Would this help to strength it and create magical effects or will it have a bad reaction? I need to know!"
The possibilities of magic had yet to be fully explored and since magical beans and artefacts were possible along with magical clouds and carpets then there must be some way to apply magic to her own creations to strengthen them or make their effects be amplified.
She could imagine that such a process would require a much greater mastery over her mana and techniques than she has at present and she would need to be better at splitting her concentration and have a larger mana pool to continue without breaks so there were no flaws formed in between.
Her path as a magical alchemist or transmuter was slowly progressing and she was having all kinds of new ideas. "If that is true then what about gems and jewellery? Can they possibly be used to store mana or spells? What about magical technology? Is it possible? What about an philosophers stone or possibly eternal life or health? How about life creation through science, alchemy and magic? Magical cure potions? Magical genetic altering serums? Potential unlocking serums? Perhaps I really have gone mad. I am already considering things that even Dr Gero would not hesitate to start researching even though it was morally wrong and required many sacrifices to perfect until he made Cell."
Although she did have some kind of morale compass, the potential of those ideas when included in the Dragon Ball world could not be ignored when it involved things that could help increase a persons survival along with those they wished to keep with them.
Currently she was taking the path of magic and the sword while she was learning the olden ways of using materials but she still had knowledge from her previous life that could be used for her own benefit if it could help her to gain her own allies and speed up the progress or development in technology purely for herself and her allies to utilise.
Unfortunately she still lacked such a following or close relationships so she was thinking far too ahead of herself once again but that was just a habit that came with her increased mental abilities.
Once a new avenue has been opened, she cannot help but wish to explore and think of the possibilities.
It was also her curiosity and enthusiasm as a scientist that had also made her that way too though.
On her free time, she occasionally visited some stalls or stores but also sold the books that she had finished reading for a cheaper price to the old man of the book store who had taken her idea into consideration and was working towards that goal of turning a part of his store into a library that allows reading of certain books if a fee is paid.
She had asked him to keep a lookout on newly released books and scrolls that were related to several areas so she could be the first to read them upon being released after the old man had purchased them for her.
