บท 44: 44. Betrayal

Zalina's legs went limp, and her stomach suddenly twisted. The man in front of Zalina was just as surprised. He dropped an ax right beside his feet.

Zalina's gaze fell following the axe; after all, she had to escape that place even though she was curious about the man who inhabited Sofia's house.

"I-sorry, I accidentally saw the door open," said Zalina, dispelling the silence between them.

The man had a sinister grin on his face. He scrutinized Zalina from top to bottom, making Zalina shiver.

For some reason, Zalina's legs felt heavy to move, even though she wanted to escape the man. She forced her feet to take a step, and a growl made Zalina run. While running and still around Sofia's yard, Zalina heard something being hit hard. She imagined the man striking his axe.
