บท 35: Chapter 35: the upgradeable cauldron

No, it wasn't a baby dragon, it was a baby wyvern.

wyverns are descendants of dragons, they carry the most pure dragon bloodline of all the dragon descendants, yet wyverns are almost as rare as dragons.

Wyverns were extremely valuable to cultivators, the skin and bones could be turned into high level armor, but most importantly, the blood essence and core.

The core of the wyvern is extremely valuable to most cultivators as the carry a LOT of qi, if a cultivator under the wyverns realm were to consume its core, the consumer's cultivation would skyrocket to just barely under the wyvern's original cultivation.

But this wasn't the reason why the humanoid creature wanted the wyvern, it was because of its blood essence, blood essence can only be found in creature with a bloodline of extreme purity or nobility ( e.g dragon for nobility)

It is said that consuming the blood essence of a higher being can make ones bloodline evolve, but humans do not have a use for this, they do not have a bloodline, or maybe they do.

The humanoid being obviously wanted the blood essence to evolve its bloodline, this would greatly enhance how quick it cultivates.

After taking the baby wyvern, the humanoid turned around and walked towards another wall before smashing it into pieces with its fist, it then went through this hole and traveled into the nothingness that was the outside world.

- ding, quest complete-

" What the hell was that thing?" Richie asked the system

- it was an Abyssal Walker. they travel through space looking for anything to help them advance in their cultivation, once it locks onto an item of use, it will not stop until it gets that item- the system explained.

Richie was not having a good time in these caves, on his way here, he saw an Abyssal demon which was able to destroy him by merely breathing on him, and an Abyssal Walker, which obviously also had an unfathomable power level.

Richie then collected the attribute token from the system.

" what is this and how do I use it" Richie asked the system

- it puts a random attribute ranging for 'common' to ' legendary' on an item, though to use it, the item needs to have an attribute slot, currently, the only item you have that has an attribute slot is the upgradeable cauldron-

"oh, the upgradeable cauldron"

Richie had completely forgotten about the upgradeable cauldron, he didn't see any point in using it and not the hellfire cauldron.

Richie then summoned the cauldron out of the system, the cauldron went up to his chest and was mostly, for lack of a better word, woody.

It looked kind of like a very wide pot made from clay, and at the top, there was a sort of belt, there were circular engravings on each of the four sides, Richie did not know what those sockets were supposed to hold.

Richie then used the attribute token from the system on the cauldron, the cauldron then shin with a purple light as one of the four sockets shook.

After closing his eyes for a few seconds ( because if you don't look, you get better luck)

Richie opened his eyes and tried to see if there were any changes to the cauldron.

it seemed that the only thing that changed about the cauldron was the fact that the socket on the side of the cauldron was now occupied by a purple gem.

" epic! " Richie didn't know what an epic attribute was, but the word 'epic' sounded cool

Richie then opened up the panel for the upgradeable cauldron.

Richie then focused on the epic attribute and a definition came up.

- description: the effects of any product which comes out of this cauldron is 50 percent more effective-

The attribute wasn't bad, it was most definitely the most basic attribute of all the epic attributes, but it was solid, an all rounded boost of the pill, or any other product which comes out of the cauldron.

"Hmm, I'm running low on gold" Richie said to himself, previously, he had over 10,000 gold coins, but now, he had just barely over 5,000, at the rate Richie was using pills and making them, he probably wouldn't be able to buy anything in a week or two.

Richie then made 2 qi gathering pills and 2 healing pastes along with a speed enhancing pill and a low level healing pill.

(Richie almost blew up the cauldron whilst he was creating the speed and healing pills, it seemed that Richie still had a long way to go before he could confidently make those pills, or would be even more challenging with a 'normal cauldron' that the alchemy guild provides to all participants for the 3rd test)

Immediately, the effects of not using the hellfire cauldron were noticable, the highest purity pill he had made was only at a purity of 33% according to the system and the highest grade was intermediate.

but what really shocked him the most was that some of the heat in the cauldron seem to be seeping out, that meant that the cauldron couldn't resist his fire, yet the system said that it could resist any fire under the 3rd realm.

wait, that meant that the fire Richie had created was comparable to a 3rd realm fire.

- no, your fire is only comparable to a fire created by an ordinary alchemist at the 8th sub realm of the 2nd stage, the reason the fire was escaping out of the cauldron was due to your inferior control over the fire, though this will be fixed if you were to upgrade the cauldron-

" I completely forgot that this cauldron could be upgraded"

- you literally read it out to me on whilst you were reading he description- The system was now serious contemplating whether Richie had short term memory loss.

The cauldron costed 10 alchemy tokens to upgrade, Richie then told the system to upgrade the cauldron, immediately 10 alchemy tokens were deducted from his... account?

The cauldron in front of him the disappeared into what Richie presumed to be the system.

- the cauldron will take 12 hours to upgrade-

- the cauldron will bow be able to withstand any heat of under the 4th realm-

- the properties of the cauldron will change slightly to better connect with the true form of alchemy-

- just to let you know, the cauldron is in the system upgrade space- the other, more human like system told Richie.

After receiving information on where his cauldron was located, Richie sat down on a nearby rock, activated his defensive talisman, rested his head on the oddly comfortable rock behind him and fell asleep.

Tomorrow he would practice his alchemy skills a lot, according to how many daily tasks had passed, he still had 5 days before he had to get back to the alchemy guild.
