Shani decided it best to learn not to be shocked by things. She was in the wild now with a century-old former Alpha. His knowledge of the world, even if it was only within Birchwoods, was more than she could begin to understand. Two things were made clear: one, he had a tumultuous history. Two, that included many other wolves—including her own father. And most seemed like enemies.

Including his father, apparently. Katriel Olwen. What were the fucking chances that they would be in the same place?

Shani dragged her gaze away from the rabid wolf to Cas towering over her, using himself as a shield. Beside her, Mingan looked torn between unease and hatred. Shani wouldn’t be surprised if she formed a vendetta against the male who treated Cas with little love and respect. She herself felt bitter—all three of them had suffered by the hands of beastly Alphas.
