Michael's POV :)
As I drove to dad's, I got a call from my other friend Jason. He was still in Russia...my party freak buddy...he's been over there for months now . He was into machine creation and when his services were needed he flew to the said country.
"Hey man how's it going ?" He asked.
"It's been a bit boring without you though"
"I'll be back in like a month and we'll paint the town red"
"Yeah...I'm hosting a party this weekend "
"Oh...okay...without me " Jason said feigning hurt.
"Think I don't know you're having way more fun there" I replied.
"Fair enough...I met this girl..." he chuckled.
"Why did you call actually cause I'm driving and don't wanna hear tales of the girl...you just met...you always meet girls"
"Okay when you're done with driving call me"
"Alright " I said and cut the call. If I listened to his talk I'd have to pack and laugh about it.
When I arrive at dads house I was told by security that he took a walk up the hill. He loved doing that though I knew it was very stressful for him as he hanged his artificial heart bag.
Father had been awaiting transplant two years ago. We've searched countries and when we eventually found a match l, the doctor said it was too risky as Dad wasn't strong enough. I wanted to take that risk wanted him to live a stress free life before he died but Dad rather chose to be on the artificial heart. And it has lasted on him for two years now.
I walk up, to the hill and the air yeah really was fresh and refreshing.
I met him backing me, looking down at the town. His heart bag was placed closed to the bench he stood at as the pipes were a bit long. His hands were behind his back. I'm sure his eyes are close and he is meditating.
Nurse Fiona was a little farther from him not too far to assist him if he had problems and not too close to give him space. She bowed at me and I nodded back at her. I joined him at his space and closed my eyes too.
"Michael " he said. I could never sneak up on this man, he always just sensed when I was around.
"Father" my eyes were shut and I was sure his were too.
"You have no work today ?" He questioned. He was a workaholic and would have continued working if not for his condition.
"Work can wait dad...I missed you" I cooed.
"When am I meeting her ?" He asked getting straight to the point.
"Dad...!" I exclaim and open my eyes. His were open too.
"Don't give me excuses Michael...what was her name again ?"
"Uhm...Sheila ?"
"Sheila...?"
"No I meant Cam...Camila" my mouth said and I regretted it. Geez Camila's name just had to get stuck in my mouth.
"Camila...I'd love to meet her next weekend. Let's have a Sunday dinner together...in the meantime get down to the proposal " he stated.
"But dad...she's not ready yet ".
"You guys have been dating for two years now and she's someone you like..."
"I know but..."
"I've been hearing rumors about you Michael...I hear you sleep around and waste your nights going to parties....if I hire a detective and those rumors turn to facts you know what's gonna happen"
"Okay...okay dad...I'll get down to the proposal " I really said. 'Who am I gonna marry now ?...Camila !...her parents were bankrupt after all...it will be a win win if I marry her. I'll have her bare me a baby in exchange for settling her family's debt and some additional money. Would she like that ? Nah...I don't think so.
"Hand me my med at the pocket of the bag"
"I'm sorry for causing you stress dad" I said popping two on my hands and handing it to him and bringing out a bottle of water too.
"Should I run a background check on her ?" He questioned....Dad was a thorough man.
"No need dad...she's clean" I said.
"I trust you but don't easily trust people...if something feels off break it off with her and I'll arrange a marriage for you"
"Yeah..." he has tried setting up blind dates for me and I never like any of the girls. They were just too good and boring I wanted bad and wild. I've never actually pictured married life cause my dad never married but he was still happy.
"Dad were you ever married "
He spanked my head and wandered off wearing his back pack. I joined him.
"Dad you never wanna tell me about that...son to father let's talk about women"
"I've had my fair share of women and I don't wanna talk about it...how's the company"
"It's going smoothly thanks to your competent son" I proudly said.
"How is Charles doing these days"
"I hardly hear news about him dad...I hear he works from home and comes by the office only when he feels like it".
"Hmmm...hope you aren't doing same ?"
"Sometimes dad...I come by the office at least three times a week"
"Okay...good to hear "
We walked down back to the house and had lunch.
