There were many calls she had never dreamt of hearing. Many more that she had and never wanted to hear again. She had broken down and screamed. Matthew was far from her and hurt. And she couldn't do anything.

She had failed then. Not even Elliot could convince her different. She had been the one to drive him away. The one to put him in this situation. And the condition that Emily had refused to talk about. She walked quickly into the hospital looking for the oily black hair. She didn't need to look far because she could see her pacing in the waiting area. She stopped before her, not saying a word until the other woman noticed her herself.

She felt Elliot behind her and that was when Emily noticed them. She didn't say anything.
