Helen barely left. She was so convinced that Matthew was going to crack and come back. It was the guilt talking and he knew that. Since he was the one that had to pay bail, she had calmed down considerably and had begun to listen to him. Who would have thought that all had to happen was for her to get arrested.
"So, how are you this morning?"
She looked at him from where she laid curled up on the couch. "Worse than yesterday. I keep expecting him to call or text, but he must really hate me".
"You embarrassed him last time you saw him Helen" he stated.
"Good. Take that woman's side. First Matt and now you. I really shouldn't be surprised. Are you going to marry her too and then the three of you will be one happy family" how she was able to sound so scathing even though she sounded and felt so bad must be a talent.
"Call it a hunch, but I'm sure he misses you" and he knew that he did. They had talked yesterday and he had confessed that.
