Helen sighed as she looked at her phone. What was taking him so long? She had wanted to talk about this for a while. It was giving her sleepless nights. She had wanted to talk to him that day she came along, but he had company. Company that she didn't want to think too much about. That was normal teenager problems…she hoped. He needed problems like that instead of what was happening. She wouldn't put herself in-between this one. He could figure this out for himself. Well, unless he asked. Then she'd say Bella was the better choice.
She groaned irritated. What was taking so long?
She was about to call when she heard the doorknob jiggle. She sat up straighter, relieved.
He walked in with his head down and his hair down. That was his defeated stance. Something was wrong.
