บท 57: 56: Star Child: Dunes of Tolapo XVII
"FUCK! ASTRID!" I screamed as I jumped down the hole. I started channeling shock attribute mana throughout my body as I fell through the hole. I didn't know what was in the water beside Astrid but something was attacking her.
I hit the water with a hard thud that made my entire body ache. I gritted my teeth as my body spasms as electricity coursed through the water around me.
'DUMBASS!' I thought as I stopped channeling mana. Objects started floating to the surface of the water around me as I sunk to the bottom. The electricity coursing through my body paralyzed me as I choked on the water rushing into my lungs.
My farm crystal glowed and Bone-lasher shot out of it swimming over to me and gripping my arm carefully in his jaws. It pulled me through the water until it came to another body in the water and pushed it towards the surface. We broke the surface of the water and I coughed loudly, joined by another round of coughing that I quickly realized was Astrid. Feeling soon came back to my limbs and I held onto Bone-lasher's body so I didn't sink back into the water, Astrid clung to the other side.
"Why?!" Astrid started then hacked up another mouthfuls of water. "Why did you use electricity in water?!"
"Seemed smart at the time…" I groaned then threw up a mouthful myself.
<Idiot>
Bone-lasher growled and let go of my arm making sure to keep me close. It was pitch-black black and I couldn't see my hand in front of my face so I started channeling shine attribute mana through my head. Light filled the underground lake and illuminated the thousands of sonic viper corpses.
"Are you both okay?!" Dakarai shouted from the hole in the lake ceiling.
"Peachy!" Astrid shouted back up. There was a momentary pause.
"What is peachy?" He responded.
"She means we're fine!" I yelled up to him.
"Good! I'm going to head down the other tunnel and see where it leads! Hopefully I can make my way down to you!"
"No! Just jump frown the hole! Splitting up is a very bad idea!" I yelled back.
"I'll be fine!" Dakarai replied.
"No! Dakarai! DAKARAI!" I screamed but there was no reply.
<Left>
Bone-lasher shared his senses with me and showed me Dakari leaving the cavern above to follow the other route.
"FUUUUUUUCK!" I screamed and slapped the water.
"How about we figure out how we get out of here before we worry about someone else." Astrid said. I groaned then looked at her.
"You're right." I muttered then patted Bone-lasher on the head. "You see a way out of here?"

I felt my vision dim as a wave left our bodies and highlighted the underground lake. Apart from the hole above us, which was more than ten feet in the air, there was a river that lead to what looked like a larger cave but anywhere was better than here.
"There's another way to get out of this cave. It's underwater so we'll need to hold our breath for about a minute." I told Astrid. She groaned and looked to me.
"Fine, let's get this over with."
Astrid and I grabbed onto Bone-lasher's dorsal fin and took a deep breath as he dived and swam towards the underwater tunnel. My headlight lit up the way as we swam through the tunnel just barely big enough for all three of us. About halfway through the tunnel it started to get smaller until it shrank to the size that Astrid and I had to hold onto Bone-lasher's hind legs and get dragged along behind it.
I wasn't claustrophobic but there were several moments where I nearly had a panic attack as we swam through the tunnel. Thankfully we came through to the other side without any problems.
I gasped dramatically as we broke the surface and was surprised to find that I didn't need my headlight to see. The ceiling above was covered in this glowing moss that lit up the cave.
<Land>
Bone-lasher swam over the shore and picked me up I'm its jaws and flung me onto dry land. I landed on my face and skidded a bit which made Bone-lasher chuckle or whatever the liger shark equivalent was. Whatever it was the rasping hissing noise made me feel like I was being laughed at. I pushed myself up and spun around and glared at Bone-lasher.
"Very funny Bone." I said with gritted teeth. It kept making that raspy noise as it walked over and nudged me with its head softly.
"Alright! Thanks for getting us here anyway."
I Felt a wave of concern wash over me as Bone-lasher nudged me again. I smiled and petted it on his head.
"I'll be careful Bone. Thank you."
Bone-lasher jumped into my crystal and a pulse flew from my body showing me the outline of the rest of the cave. A few feet away was another tunnel that seemed to go on for more than two miles. Astrid trudged out of the lake looking like a drowned rat a sloshed over to me.
"Looks like there is only one way to go." She said flinging her wet hair out of her face. I channeled heat attribute mana close to the surface of my skin stood up. Steam started to rise off my body and my clothes started to dry from the residual heat. Astrid saw this and scowled at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Of course you can dry yourself…" She groaned then headed off towards the tunnel. Shook my head and followed after her.
"Jealous doesn't look good on you?" I said then reached out and grabbed her shoulder. Before she could react I channeled heat mana throughout her body. The water on her body instantly evaporated and her clothes dried up. A side effect of that was her hair Frizzed up.
"What the?!" Astrid jumped away from me and looked at her body, she calmed down when she saw that she was dry but freaked out when she ran her hand through her hair. "You destroyed my hair!"
"It's fine. It looked fucked up before you fell in the lake." I said dismissively then walked past her into the tunnel, thankfully the glowing moss covered the tunnel walls and lit the way. Astrid growled and stomped after me. As we walked I periodically got updates on our position from Bone-lasher. I was thankful for this since it also works as a radar that let us know if any sonic vipers were coming after us. About a half a hour later I got a warning from Bone-lasher.
<Danger!>
A wave of anger washed over me as a pulse was sent out showing me a massive cavern. The path we were in let out into a overlook of the cavern that was a dozen feet above the cavern floor. The floor was covered in a few hundred since vipers writhing around raised platform and on that platform was the ascended sonic viper. Severely wounded it sat coiled up and looked to be nursing multiple all over its body.
I stopped and held my hand out to stop Astrid. She frowned at me until she saw me hold a finger to my lips to silence her.
"Sonic Vipers ahead. The ascended is with them." I whispered. Astrid eyes grew wide and she looked ahead then back at me.
"What do we do?" She asked.
"Lets get closer, I want to see what's going on with my own eyes." I said.
