Mia settled into her seat as Lin Yang took the opposite one.
"Your Highness, you..." he began, but Mia's expression turned stern.
"Are you planning to expose my identity to everyone?" she asked, her voice firm.
He quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, President Chi. I was careless."
"It's alright, but please be more cautious. In private, just call me by my name. You're older than me, and it feels disrespectful when someone older uses those titles. Remember, I told your grandfather that we are friends, so there's no need for formalities between friends."
He smiled, "If you say so. Still, it's a bit strange, but in return, you should call me Lin Yang since we are friends."
She smiled back and nodded.
"I came here to discuss something important with you," he said, his tone serious.
"I'm listening," she replied, her attention fully focused.
"First of all, you should stay away from Mr. Martin. He is a Magical Dragon from the dark beasts. Not only that, but he's the one who stole the presentation. When you got up from your seat, he started using his magic. Just as your presentation ended, a few members were about to question you, but he magically stopped them. I sensed evil intentions from him."
She stared at him, her eyes wide with concern.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.
She remained silent for a moment, then sighed.
"You're different from other beasts. The magical powers you have are unique, only I possess them. No one else has such powers. Even if someone else does, they would be extremely weak. By the way, I knew all that was happening."
He sighed deeply, "I know my magic is much more powerful than others. Sometimes, I feel like it's a curse. The strangest thing happens during the mating season. Normally, animals experience these things, not Magical Beasts. But it affects me. When the mating season arrives, I go into meditation to control its effects until it's over. The first time it happened, my mind felt like it was about to burst. The female aura gave me a terrible headache, and I would transform uncontrollably. It wasn't just wolves; every female had this effect on me. Only my grandfather and now you know about it."
Mia remained silent, her mind swirling with thoughts as she carefully contemplated Lin's words. Unexpectedly, she broke the quietude with a question that held a weight of concern, "How long have you found yourself entangled in this situation?"
His countenance shifted, a fleeting shadow of sorrow crossing his features as he admitted, "Ever since Mi vanished."
A palpable heaviness settled between them, the silence thickening before Mia gently breached it, acknowledging, "It appears Mi wielded a profound influence on your magical abilities. By the way, was Mi a regular human or perhaps a Magical Beast?"
He looked down at his hands, his voice softening, "She was a normal human. I know we, as magical beings, and humans can't be together. Yet, even if she doesn't like it, I want to see her once more. I want to know that she is alive and happy. The moment she disappeared, I lost control of my magic. I used to be a weak White Wolf. No one liked me, I was weak in cultivation, and I lacked talent. Everything changed in my life after her disappearance."
Mia paused, taking a moment to collect her thoughts as she observed tears streaming down Lin's cheeks. Fueled by concern, she approached him, her steps gentle yet purposeful, and rested a reassuring hand on his trembling shoulder.
"Lin, take a breath. Mi is safe," she uttered softly, her voice carrying a comforting tone to ease his distress.
His eyes widened with a mixture of shock and relief, and he clasped her hand tightly, seeking solace and confirmation. "You've located her. Please, I beg you, take me to her," he pleaded earnestly, his voice tinged with desperation and an overwhelming sense of urgency.
She hesitated before speaking, "She is indeed alive. But for now, I can't tell you everything because I need to confirm some things. When I delved into your soul and power, it had a severe effect on me. During that, I found out about her. The important thing is that she is someone I know. At that moment, I also discovered her impact on you. Furthermore, I found something strange about your mother, but I couldn't see it clearly. Your magic is so potent that it prevented me from seeing everything. I can't reveal everything right now, but once I have clarity, I will inform you. Don't worry about Mi; she is safe."
Overwhelmed with gratitude and a rush of emotions, he stood up, his heart brimming with thankfulness, and enveloped Mia in a tight, heartfelt hug. "Thank you so much, Mia," he expressed with genuine warmth in his voice, "You're the best friend I've ever had."
Mia was taken aback by his sudden embrace, but she understood his emotions. He released her and apologized, scratching his head.
"It's okay," Mia laughed, easing the tension.
"There's something I need your help with," she said.
"I'm at your command, my little friend," he said happily.
She smiled. "You seem happy. The thing is, I have to visit different beasts' lands to fight against some evil spirits. The cold toxin weakened some of my powers. I can still fight, but in emergencies, I might need aid. I'm choosing you because your magic is even more powerful than that of the leaders. Normally, I would select one of them, but this time, I'm choosing you. Please don't disappoint me."
He happily replied, "Okay, but the mating season is coming."
"Don't worry, I will block the effect," she assured him.
"That's great, then all set. Mr. Tao and Mr. De aren't here. Let me drive you home," he offered.
Mia smiled, "Alright, let's hurry. Liana and Cheng will be waiting for me."
As they were about to leave, Mia suddenly stopped. Lin looked back and hurried over. Without warning, she vomited blood and collapsed.
