He mumbled in her ear, his voice slightly hoarse, like a pluck on the strings of her heart. She quivered, and subconsciously wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Brother George?"

"Don't speak, just let me embrace you for a while." His arms tightened around her, drawing her even closer. His eyes closed and his chin rested on her slender shoulders.

She was so frail, so thin, almost as if she would break at the lightest bend. The pain in his heart spread like ripples, seeping into his bones.

Tara Summer let him hold her, the man's tension radiating off his back. She could feel his pervasive sorrow very keenly, but as he chose not to speak, she chose not to probe...

George Summer stayed in Tara Summer's room for half an hour, then left for his company.

After he left, Tara Summer turned on her laptop, but she found herself incapable of focusing on anything on the screen.
