The southern region may be small compared to the Northern or the Central region of the continent, but this region was 5 times more populated than the entire central region. 

With Riya's powers, a large amount of Mithralwood was produced. In the end, it took Percy and his men 9 entire days to make a flying ship using Mithralwoods. They did not build a flying ship from scratch as that would have taken up too much time. Instead, they took the large ship that Aditya brought the Savannahclaw City.
