บท 4: Quest
After Zoom entered the pharmacy he quickly approached the man on the counter that was panting.
"Ah young lad, if you wish to buy any pills... unfortunately I ran out of herbs to create them, there seems to be a problem with the supply of herbs these days... Sigh..." The man had a exhausted look when he said this.
"Maybe I can help you with obtaining herbs? If you can maybe give me a map on where I could get them I think I can help." Zoom had a bright smile on his face that looked innocent, without hesitation the man opened up a drawer on the counter.
"Here! You can see the name of the zones in the map, if you click on these zones you can see there descriptions are, but be careful as there are many ferocious beasts that litter the place." The man gave a object shaped like a tablet to Zoom, on the screen appeared a map.
Zoom was stunned.
"Why would you give me something like this? It looks expensive." Zoom had a puzzled expression on his face.
"Don't worry young man, nobody has ever helped me unless I first paid them or asked them a favour, but you! You willingly approached me just to help me so please, you can have it." The man said in a overly dramatic tone.
'I guess my innocent act worked! But I never heard of NPC's giving maps though, maybe when I asked for him to give me a map that triggered it, nice.' Zoom thought.
After Zoom received a quest he soon left the store after a bit of chitchat.
[Quest: A pharmacy owner is in dire need of herbs for him to concoct pills, help him by gathering herbs in Brightwood Forest!
Gather 50 RedVine Herbs, 50 BlueVine Herbs, 50 YellowVine Herbs and 50 PurpleVine Herbs. After gathering them, give them to the pharmacy owner for a handful of rewards.]
'A total of two hundred herbs!' Zoom said after looking at the quests section.
With the tablet on his hands he opened up the map.
"Would you like to integrate this map with the system?" The robotic voice sprang up.
Zoom was dumbstruck, integrate? He didn't know this function existed.
"Yes!" Without a second thought he agreed, the tablet on his hands slowly turned in bright particles and surrounded him.
'Wow...' Zoom couldn't help but be amazed, the particles enveloped him before it suddenly disappeared.
"The map has been fully integrated to the system, a new section of the status screen has been added."
With a curious expression he immediately opened his status screen and went to the new section named 'Map'.
In the map section there countless locations, cities, zones where beasts roam and countless forbidden and dangerous areas.
Upon clicking the name of these areas a descriptions would be displayed about that area.
Only five miles east from the city of Cevy there was a forest named 'Brightwood Forest', it was a fairly beginner zone were the highest beast would be only level twenty in the center with most being below level five in the outer perimeter.
The forest was a hotspot for herbs but with countless beasts within the herbs were could only be seen but can't be harvested, a sorry sight to see.
But with as players enter into the fray, the city's herb problem might soon be solved.
Before running off towards the forest, Zoom bought a floating board that resembled the hovering board shaped like a skateboard but without the wheels that he used a few hours ago.
With the beginner money he had he was capable of buying one but that one single purchase has drained his wallet.
'It's an investment.' He thought.
The hover board had a pace of at most fifty miles per hour, a journey that would have taken probably an hour was easily covered in one six minutes, the hover board was definitely worth the money spent.
Zoom soon entered the outer perimeter of the forest before hopping of the hover board.
The hover board was stored inside the inventory section of the status screen and Zoom pulled out his bow.
There were many reasons to no use a hover board inside forests or zones, one it's pretty hard to avoid obstacles such as trees or boulders, two they attract beasts like a moth drawn to a light.
Together with the bow Zoom had infinite beginner arrows in his arsenal.
If you'd like higher quality arrows you have to buy them and they weren't unlimited.
Zoom readied an arrow incase a beast or player attacks him.
He rushed through the forest and was in a look out for herbs.
Many herbs were in patches or are beside trees which were quite easy to spot.

And just like that a full patch of eight RedVine herbs were harvested, and together with the eight herbs were sixteen EXP, two per herb.
'I might be able to finish this quest in an hour!' He thought.
From time to time Zoom would encounter a roaming beast or a group of them, if they're alone he would just snipe them from a distance but would stay away from groups unless they're the harmless ones.
[Congratulations! You've leveled up to 2!]
Zoom soon hit level two within minutes, the level two to five beasts gave a fair bit of exp for someone of his level.
After leveling up Zoom obtained an extra three more additional available points that can be distributed throughout.
With a total of eight points Zoom saved them incase, once he logs off he will think of the best way to distribute them.

Zoom was on top of a tree branch, this position gave him a good line of sight when spotting herbs and beasts.
'A wolf! Wolves mostly come in packs, it's either lost which is unlikely, it's group is far behind or their slaughtered.'
Zoom pulled the bow's string and shot the arrow.
Pew! Awoo!
With perfect precision the arrow landed on the wolf's right eyes and pierced through it's skull.

'I guess practicing archery in virtual reality games came in handy!' Zoom shook his head and landed down the ground.
Zoom dashed to the dead wolf's corpse and extracted the beast core from it's head.
