บท 50: Helplessness

Helplessness.
[Agrea POV],
"I'm f**ked," was the only thought running through my mind as I stared blankly at the monster in front of me while secretly picking up the orbs from the ground.
The behavior of the monster in front of me was how I knew or assumed it was the mother of the monster I unknowingly just killed.
I could sense and feel the pain and rage in its voice as it continued to growl at me.
'But seriously, the fact that this monster appeared immediately after the ape's death implies that it was in the area and was watching our fight. But how did it get past my radar with a body like that?" As I made a slow effort to stand up, I thought puzzled and confused.
'Damn,' I thought as I moved my body, everything in me screamed at me as I grimaced in pain.
"Definitely a couple of broken bones," I muttered softly, wiping the blood from my face so I could see properly and looking at the monster who appears to want to attack me but was hesitating due to something.
I was perplexed as to what would make a monster of this size and power hesitate to slap me to death when I noticed the monster's eyes darting between me and the violet flame surrounding me.
"Are my flames enough to frighten a monster even on the silver level?" I kept watching it, unsure of my thoughts.
Perhaps it was so enraged by me that it wanted to simply kill me but decided against it because it did not want to endanger itself.
As I was beginning to believe that the monster would have no choice but to ignore me and leave, it became clear that blood is truly thicker than water due to the actions it took next.
I'm not sure if it used a skill or not, but it roared all of a sudden as the mana in the air began to rush to it as I felt the mother ape's power level increase.
Rather than saying it was simply increasing its level, it is better to say it was partially jumping levels at this point, only stopping when it reached level 50.
'Damn. Is it really necessary for you to go to such lengths? I'm only at level 21? 'Why are you overleveling yourself?' I thought as fear grew inside of me.
And, based on the monster's face, it doesn't appear that the monster will live long, so even if it does kill me, it will die soon after.
'Did it really have to come down to a life-or-death fight?' As my face twisted, I thought.
Looking at me with more rage in its eyes, the monster gradually shrank in size as it approached me slowly.
Without even thinking, I summoned all of my mana and caused the violet flames to grow larger around me.
But, as they say, in the face of absolute power, tricks like this are nothing more than tricks.
The monster simply punched the air with all its might, sending an intense gush of wind my way without even getting close.
No matter how lethal my flames were, I could only watch helplessly as the wind hit me, breaking more of my bones as I flew in another direction.
Everything that happened after that was the monster punching the air at me while I was just increasing the flames around me so the monster couldn't come close and kill me quickly.
But all I did was delay my death by feeling more pain.
When my mana was completely depleted, I lay on the ground, weakly watching the monster approach.
I thought it was going to kill me instantly, but I was wrong.
The monster intended to slowly torture and kill me.
'Since I'm going to die anyway, whether it's true death or not, I'll never choose to die this way.'
With this in mind, I decided to go extreme like the monster before me.
